U.S. Army Chemical Materials Activity Administrative Support Assistant (OA) in Richmond, Kentucky

About the Position: Serve as an Administrative Support Assistant for one or more Directorates/Offices in the Blue Grass Chemical Activity (BGCA). Supports the various Directorates with a wide variety of administrative services and ensures that administrative support is carried out in an effective and efficient manner. Performs a variety of administrative support and clerical functions. Prepares a variety of routine correspondence in accordance with Army Regulation 25-50, or other designated guidance. Prepares travel orders/vouchers for employees who need assistance utilizing the Defense Travel System (DTS). Reviews outgoing correspondence for procedural, grammatical, spelling, and contextual accuracy. Maintains calendar, schedules appointments, and meetings. Performs timekeeper duties within the Army Time and Attendance Production System (ATAAPS). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Perform a wide variety of administrative support functions; utilize a variety of office automation software and equipment; prepare travel order and vouchers in an automated system such as Defense Travel System (DTS); and prepare a variety of routine correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service or equivalent (GS-06). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer Skills Reading Speaking Writing Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Term Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 15 January 2026. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees to include permanent Army employees applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. When a current Army employee applies to a JOA opened for a term appointment, the action will be a conversion to a term appointment. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
