FORT BEND COUNTY MUNICIPAL Environmental Code Inspector- Pools in Richmond, Texas

FORT BEND COUNTY DEPARTMENT: HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES JOB TITLE: ENVIRONMENTAL CODE INSPECTOR - POOLS Enforces the Regulations for Swimming Pools, Spas, Artificial Lagoons, and Interactive Water Features in Fort Bend County. Conducts Inspections, issues permits, and takes enforcement action when needed. Enforces swimming pool violations covered under the Neighborhood Nuisance Abatement (NNA) state statues. May enforce other areas under NNA. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Conducts Routine and Follow-up Inspections for Swimming Pools, Spas, Artificial Lagoons, and Interactive Water Features in Fort Bend County in Fort Bend County. Prepares and maintains detailed reports, inspection forms and related correspondence of the documentation of field notes, photographs, and other related material. Approves, issues, denies or suspends pool establishment permits administered through the Department. Investigates and follows up on pool product recalls and investigation of water-borne illness or disease, and emergency situations. Determines validity of violations based on evidence found, processes notice of violations, issuance of citations, and filing of charges, and conducts follow up or compliance. Expected throughout all Inspections and Investigations to test water chemistry by conducting water chemical tests to determine current water quality, ensure safety features are addressed, and other requirements for documentation to ensure compliance with local and state rules and regulations. Conducts Neighborhood Nuisance Abatement inspections and oversees abatement of violations. Issues citations, notices or abatements as necessary. REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma/GED. ( Bachelors degree with 30 hours in basic or natural science from an accredited college or university preferred.) One year job related experience. Knowledge of Health and Safety Codes and Texas Environmental Laws. Good computer and typing skills. Good verbal and written communication skills, along with good interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with others. Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work and complete assigned tasks within deadline. State of Texas Code Enforcement Officer Certification required or Texas Code Enforcement Officer in Training (or Texas Code Enforcement Officer in Training must be obtained within 9 months of employment). Certified Pool Operator (or Certified Pool Operator within 6 months of employment). May be required to work weekends and be on-call. Must keep current with federal, state and local laws and regulations regarding departmental operations.

SALARY RANGE: $21.64 - $27.05 hourly based on qualifications All full-time and part-time employees are members of the Texas County District Retirement System (TCDRS).
