Job Title: Electrician Tech

Job Description

An Electrician installs basic electrical equipment and systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. This role involves assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, conduit, cable, equipment, components, and devices associated with electrical equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.

Responsibilities

  • Running rigid (1.5 inch) pipe down to gear box

  • Wiring 3-way switches

  • Assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, conduit, cable, equipment, components, and devices

  • Installing and mounting electronic controls, devices, panels, sensors, and components

  • Performing interlock wiring as required

  • Testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices

  • Inspecting installation sites and studying work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to determine materials requirements and installation procedures

  • Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of breakdowns and correct problems

  • Directing and training workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures

  • Reading contract drawings

  • Working with Electrical Distribution systems and wiring up to 480V

  • Installing conduit, wireways, pulling wiring/cables, and terminating cables

  • Reading and interpreting electrical blueprints and control wiring diagrams

Essential Skills

  • Experience as a 3rd or 4th-year apprentice electrician (Electrical helper role for the past 3 or 4 years)

  • Journeyman or Master level with at least 4 years of experience

  • Commercial background

  • Experience working with 480 volts

  • Experience bending and installing rigid 1.5-inch pipe

  • Ability to perform modifications as needed

  • Experience wiring

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Electrical Apprentice

  • Master or Journeyman

Work Environment

The work environment is a manufacturing setting where PPE, including a hard hat, safety vest, and safety glasses, is required and provided (except steel-toed boots). The shift schedule is Monday to Thursday from 5:30 am to 4 pm and Friday from 5:30 am to 1:30 pm, allowing for ample overtime opportunities. The facility is modern and well-maintained.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ruther Glen, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00
