Robert Half International Staff Accountant in Richmond, Virginia

Description Robert Half has a long-term contract / temporary opportunity available for an experienced, organized Staff Accountant at a reputable Automotive company. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility. You will assist in developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very involved as it will produce Cash Flow projections, Budgets, and Financial Statements. Key responsibilities

  • Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules

  • Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision

  • Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

  • Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting

  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

  • Participate in various department-wide initiatives

  • Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

  • Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation Requirements - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

  • Recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel

  • Knowledge of customer service

  • Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

  • Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

  • Knowledgeable of ERP systems

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
