Position Summary
The Department of Computer, Information, and Data Sciences ( CIDS ) in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls is seeking a faculty member with expertise in applied Artificial Intelligence, Computing and Business. Candidates will be considered for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level starting August 2025 (preferred) or January 2026. Exceptional candidates with significant records of scholarship and teaching activity will be considered for hire at the Associate Professor level. The successful candidate will show excellent communication skills and the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses for the CIDS department and the School of Business and Economics.
The qualified candidate should have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science or a related area ( ABD with confirmed completion date prior to start of employment will be considered) and will be expected to teach AI integrated courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in both Computer Science and Business, develop curricula and assessment, maintain an active AI-related research agenda, advise graduate and undergraduate majors, and provide service to both the university and the profession. Other teaching responsibilities will depend on expertise and departmental needs. Experience or interest in writing and submitting grant requests is a plus.
Responsibilities
Teach courses in the foundations and applications of Artificial Intelligence at the undergraduate and graduate level for the Department of Computer, Information, and Data Sciences and for the School of Business and Economics
Participate in program/curricula development and student learning outcomes assessment
Engage in research and scholarly activity and publish results in peer-reviewed journals
Advise graduate and undergraduate majors
Engage in high-impact educational practices such as faculty-student collaborative research and/or global education and/or developing and supporting external partnerships
Provide service to the department, college, university, and the profession
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Required Qualifications:
Education: Doctorate in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science or a related area from an accredited institution ( ABD with confirmed completion date prior to start of employment Ability to teach courses in the foundations and applications of Artificial Intelligence at the undergraduate and graduate level for the Department of Computer, Information, and Data Sciences, and AI-infused Business courses at the graduate or undergraduate level for the School of Business and Economics
Evidence of teaching effectiveness indicated by the candidate’s CV and/or teaching statement
Commitment to research and scholarly activities that can result in peer-reviewed publications as evidenced by the candidate’s CV and research statement
Commitment to collaboration across disciplines and with external partners
Preferred Qualifications:
The candidate’s CV, teaching statement, and/or research statement provides evidence of the following:
Ability to teach an array of undergraduate and graduate classes in Computer Science, Information Systems, and/or Data Science
Experience teaching Business courses at the undergraduate or graduate level
Experience or interest in writing and submitting grant proposals
Experience in academic advising of undergraduate students
Experience or interest in supervising undergraduate and graduate research
Commitment to best teaching practices such as giving prompt and detailed oral and written feedback to students
A record of successful collaboration across disciplines or with external partners
