Wolters Kluwer Associate Director, Finance in Riverwoods, Illinois


This role is responsible for strategic planning, financial reporting, cost analysis, operations management, coupled with P&L responsibility. The AD, Finance must be highly motivated team leader that leads by example, has commitment to quality, and common-sense problem solving. They collaborate with leadership, sales, and operations teams; building and coaching a finance team to success and performing efficiently as a consultative business partner in all facets of an organization. They understand the need for organizations to adapt quickly in today’s constantly changing business environment and use creative, innovative approaches in a team environment to drive improvements to the bottom line.

LOCATION: New York City NY or Riverwoods IL


  • Function as key financial resource in supporting respective Business Group and as liaison between the Business Unit and LRUS corporate finance group

  • Lead financial support of any Acquisition/Divestment activity within the respective Business Group.

  • Use company data and business understanding to develop analytics into key trends and variance explanations in sales, pricing, revenue and operating expenses and provide recommendations to improve operational and cost efficiency.

  • Responsible for development and oversight of the annual budget and forecasting processes for the business unit, along with monthly close end activities and communicating monthly results compared to plan to management.

  • Provide on-going financial analysis to support key decision making as needed to business unit management team and ad-hoc requests from the CFO.

  • Develop, implement, analyze and monitor meaningful forward-looking indicators and key business metrics, and translate observed trends into meaningful business analysis and recommendations.

  • Partner with departmental leaders to ensure realistic forecasts supporting business growth and objectives and monitoring sales and portfolio performance to drive results in the organization.

  • Assist in preparation of three-year business development plan and related Executive Committee and Board presentations.

  • Collaborate with corporate finance team on assisting and strengthening internal control environment.

  • Solid understanding of how developments in the business translate into financial performance, both backward looking and forward looking.

  • Provide financial support for new product initiatives such as development of 5 Year P&L, ROI, IRR and NPV analysis and financial representation on steering committee for new initiatives.

  • Design, test and implement Business Intelligence reports used for budgeting, forecasting and planning.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor



  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (in Accounting or Finance preferred) or equivalent experience.

  • CPA or MBA preferred


  • 10+ years’ experience in broad based financial related positions or equivalent experience

  • 4+ years of direct supervision/management of finance staff.

Preferred Experience

  • M&A experience, sales channel efficiency, budgeting, and forecasting responsibilities, in software, information service.

  •, SAP, Business Intelligence experience.

  • Ability to identify and recommend process and or business improvements

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Microsoft Office experience coupled with strong modeling skills in Microsoft Excel

TRAVEL: 10-15% domestic & international travel


Target salary range CA, CT, CO, NY, WA:: $143,000-$202,400
