Faculty Position in Biomedical Engineering
Department of Biomedical Engineering

The University of Rochester invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Biomedical Engineering ( www.bme.rochester.edu ). Preference will be given to candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor, though exceptional candidates at higher ranks will be considered. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent and have demonstrated significant research accomplishments. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an independent, extramurally funded research program and to participate in departmental educational programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, candidates are sought who share the department's commitment to fostering an inclusive climate for a diverse community of faculty, staff, and students.

We are particularly seeking candidates with expertise in biomaterials, especially those that complement or enhance existing departmental strengths in biomechanics/mechanobiology, cell and tissue engineering, biomedical imaging, optics, photonics, neuro-engineering, microphysiological systems, biosensors, and biomedical ultrasound ( http://www.hajim.rochester.edu/bme/research/index.html ). The successful applicant will also have demonstrated enthusiasm and experience in teaching and mentoring, and an ability to teach and mentor effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

One of six departments of the Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Biomedical Engineering is also part of the School of Medicine and Dentistry. The Robert B. Goergen Hall for Biomedical Engineering and Optics is a short walk from the University of Rochester Medical Center ­– host to an array of outstanding research centers, including the Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience, the Wilmot Cancer Center, the Eastman Institute for Oral Health, and the Center for Musculoskeletal Research. The department enjoys additional strong collaborations with the Rochester Center for Biomedical Ultrasound, the Center for Visual Science, and the world-renowned Institute of Optics. Extensive cross-disciplinary interactions foster an exceptionally rich environment for clinical and translational research and basic science collaboration.

The annual 9-month salary for this position is $103,000-$108,000. This range represents the full base range of pay for this job. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on market data, experience, and expertise of the indiviIdual, and internal equity considerations.
