Paychex Automation Test Engineer III in Rochester, New York

Overview

Paychex North America Inc. seeks a full time Automation Test Engineer III at our offices located at 135 Calkins Road, Rochester, NY 14623.

Job Description:

Perform software coding and implementation tasks related to building Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) service regression, test harness, automated test scripts and internal IT tools to improve software quality and reduce the test time needed in software releases for Payroll Solutions.

Responsibilities

Create test automation using Paychex standard tools (pxTestify, Python, Robot Framework, Selenium, SOAPUI, Postman, Podman, and Jenkins) for SOA and REST API Web Services;

Develop and Execute Mobile Apps and Mobile Web browser testing using the SauceLabs tool on multiple iOS and Android devices;

Execute performance test scripts and measure various aspects of the application performance including throughput, response times, and resources usage;

Perform peer code reviews using code collaborator Bitbucket to ensure the change meets business requirements, specifications, and design;

Create and execute SQL queries using modern RDBMS or NoSQL technologies;

Utilize development principals including conditional logic, coding structures, data formats and values to ensure automation code is maintainable, effectively debug and ensure software features are properly covered ;

Follow Agile process for all releases and participate in scrum meetings to update the QA progress for Sprint deliverables;

Develop Test Strategy, Test Plan and foresee risks by generating Risks Management plans;

Implement best practices for testing approach/strategy to identify software errors in test builds for development resolution;

Formulate the testing estimates required for projects based on business requirements, specifications, and design;

Contribute to the evolution of test standards and technology by researching new software and platform technologies and make recommendations for adoption.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (or foreign degree equiv.) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or closely related field, plus 3 years of experience in any automation testing role.

In the alternative, Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equiv.) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or closely related field, plus 5 years of experience in any automation testing role.

Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include each of the following:

  • 3 years of experience with Software testing and automated test techniques with strong focus on quality throughout the Software development life cycle;

  • 3 years of experience translating functional requirements and use cases to working Test Scripts, Automation Test Plans and Test Strategies;

  • 3 years of design and development experience using Python, Selenium WebDriver, pxTestify (or similar automated test runner), Robot Framework, SOAP and REST API;

  • 3 years of experience in design, development, and execution of performance test;

  • 3 years of experience utilizing Project Management and Defect Management tools including JIRA;

  • 3 years of experience creating and executing SQL queries using modern RDBMS or NoSQL technologies;

  • 3 years of experience in Mobile Apps and Mobile Web browsers testing using real devices or BrowserStack, SauceLabs tools;

  • 3 years of experience of Continuous Integration Practices, using Jenkins or similar tools; and

  • 3 years of experience using coding standards and performing code reviews.

Compensation

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $106,538-$111,538 annually. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
