Description

The Chief Wellness Officer (CWO) is responsible for the vision, depiction, quality, and oversight of the clinical mission of the CNE, including Center for Employee Wellness (CEW), Passport Health/Travel Medicine (PPH), and the Flu program. The CWO develops, implements, and evaluates clinical programs and ensures cutting edge approaches, successful clinical outcomes, and an evidenced based approach to all wellness initiatives. The CWO creates a positive, collaborative work environment and serves as role model for CNE staff. The CWO cultivates success through deliberate strategic collaborations and exceptional clinical innovation. The CWO participates in strategic initiatives affecting the CNE and its clinical programs and works collaboratively with broader URMC clinical enterprise leadership around the strategic direction of the CNE and alignment of services throughout the network. The CWO exercises independent judgment while aligning with the strategic mission of the CNE.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

CNE Clinical Programs

  • Coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation of all clinical programs offered by CNE.

o Develops clinical program metrics and analyzes program outcomes.

o Ensures an exceptional client experience and ease of access to programs for clients.

o Recommends new programs based on evolving client needs and industry innovations.

o Stays abreast of current best practices and guidelines in the healthcare and wellness industries.

o Ensures delivery of services within budget.

o Prepares reports that represent CNE clinical programs.

  • Ensures the delivery of high quality, evidence based clinical care.

o Uses best evidence as benchmark for success.

o Oversees the review of quality improvement and quality assurance activities and reporting.

o Oversees compliance with regulatory standards.

o Oversees creation, distribution, and implementation of client satisfaction surveys; leads and coordinates necessary response; communicates results to staff.

o Establishes and ensures adherence to clinical guidelines for biometric screening, PPH and flu program.

o Ensures POCT and CLIA license requirements are met and maintained.

  • Identifies clinical staff development and continuing education needs; oversees, promotes, and organizes initiatives to create a learning environment that facilitates the development of staff members.

  • Leads recognition programs for clinical staff.

  • Acts as clinical representative for CNE at SON leadership and various UR meetings; communicates department changes and initiatives to clinical staff.

  • Serves as liaison with other CNE teams (e.g. IT, Analytics) to ensure accuracy and relevance of all clinical programs.

  • Ensures system wide collaboration around clinical services to reduce redundancy and provide effective preventative wellness programs for clinical programs offered by the CNE.

o Aligns wellness goals with Primary Care Network and Accountable Health Partners and other direct contracts.

o Represents CNE locally, regionally and nationally through presentations and other means that promote wellness programs.

o Develops collaborative and strategic partnerships locally, regionally, and nationally to promote the work of CNE.

o Contributes generative knowledge about wellness through the integration of clinical research, as appropriate.

o Improve clinical outcomes through continuous evaluation of programs and outcomes of the CNE locally, regionally, and nationally.

o Oversees achievement of national certification for clinical practice.

o Leads creation and maintenance of clinical manuals in collaboration with other clinical staff; Ensures all materials are clinically accurate and up to date. Ensures web content and clinical recommendations are current, accurate and relevant.

Operations and Administration

  • Serves as a member of the CNE leadership team.

  • Oversees and directs the personnel functions of clinical staff, ensuring effective and efficient nursing practices for all Wellness Programs, including Employee Wellness, Passport Health, and Flu.

  • In collaboration with Director of Operations, develops productivity targets and metrics for CNE nurses and clinical programs; monitors achievement and makes recommendations for continuous improvements.

  • Establishes and evaluates clinical staffing models for clinical services and optimizes scope of practice standards for all employees.

  • Manages the interviewing, hiring, promotion, and evaluation of nursing personnel based on established standards.

  • Mediates and resolves any personnel issues that may arise among clinical staff within the guidelines set by the University.

  • Ensures compliance with standards of local, state and other regulatory agencies.

  • Ensures clinical staff meet HR guidelines and university policies regarding work rules.

Science and Translation:

  • Interprets new scientific evidence for application to wellness programs and clinical practice.

  • Applies current epidemiological evidence that informs the development of prevention/ wellness programs.

  • Develops research questions that advance the science of wellness.

  • Conducts generative research (i.e. comparative/ effectiveness) that will contribute to the understanding of wellness.

  • Supports student learning.

Direct clinical care:

  • Provides care across service lines (ex: biometric screenings, condition management, PPH visits), as needed.

  • Provides direct care as an advanced practice nurse across service lines.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Licensed AGNP, preferred PhD or DNP with wellness experience
