Job Description :
This is an hardware engineering techinician position responsible for assisting in the design, construction, test and check-out of test equipment. Constructs, troubleshoots, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems. Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. May work with complex machines or computer systems. Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format. This team, located in Rochester, New York designs, builds, and integrates specialty test equipment (STE) used in missions spanning across the domains our SAS segment designs mission deliverable hardware.
Team members need general working knowledge of lab maintenace , cable build expereince per IPC-620A standard, familarity with commercial of the shelf test equipment. Familiarity with cable dressing and test rack sub assembly construction.
Essential Functions:
Collaborate with STE Design team on the build and integration of new systems
Complete lab maintenance logs to maintain work area requirements
Perform maintance functions on existing STE platforms
Assist the production team with general STE inquiries
Perform initial troubleshoot on failed STE systems
Support NRTL inspections of STE systems
Organize improvement initiatives to lab spaces
Coordiante use of lab spaces with group lead
Qualifications :
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
Experience working in a test lab setting
Experience troubleshooting electronics:power requirements of COTS components; AC circuit loading
Experience with mechanical tooling used in the construction of hardware test racks
Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance
Preferred Additional Skills:
IPC 620-A Certification
Ability to work with E-CAD tools
Ability to work with Microsoft tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Strong lab skills that include hands-on build and debug of equipment including root-cause analysis
Ability to clearly communicate ideas, concepts, and designs both written and verbal
Ability to work alone with little direction or as part of a team
Willingness to reach out to people to understand expectations or requirements
Ability to develop requirements, design specifications, verification documents, and other technical documents as needed
Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance
