University of Rochester Staff Physical Therapist in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

With minimal direction and latitude for independent judgment, provides physical therapy evaluations, including standardized outcome measures, and care recommendations for individuals across the lifespan attending neuromuscular clinics. Performs standardized clinical outcome assessments, including measures of strength and function, with individuals participating in neuromuscular disease clinical research studies and clinical trials. Opportunities to participate in overall research processes including grant writing, study design, data analysis, data dissemination (presentations at meetings and manuscript preparation).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates as a member of the multidisciplinary care team and evaluates individuals with neuromuscular conditions and performs clinical outcome assessments as needed;

  • Provides individualized recommendations including but not limited to exercise, the use of assistive devices and adaptive equipment, orthotic needs and further engagement in PT services.

  • Reviews protocols, attends training sessions and performs standardized clinical outcome assessments per study procedures outlined in study protocols. Contributes to the maintenance of study equipment.

  • Reviews patient charts; maintains required patient and department records.

  • Assists in obtaining medical equipment (wheelchairs, assistive devices, etc); working with vendors as needed.

  • Communicates with community providers as needed

  • Documents results of clinical outcome assessments, reviews data for accuracy and responds to data queries

  • Keeps abreast of issues and changes in the field by reading and attending professional meetings and seminars.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy and completed relevant clinical education in a comparable setting required.

  • Master's degree in Physical Therapy preferred.

  • or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • 3 years of progressively responsible professional work experience in a Physical Therapist role required.

  • Experience in assessment and management of patient with muscular dystrophies preferred.

  • Clinical research experience preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of Physical Therapy Practice required.

  • Effective organization and communication skills preferred

  • PT - Physical Therapist in New York State upon hire required.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $76,398 - $99,320 Annualy

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job¿s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
