General Purpose:

The Student Life Associate Program Director is a key member of the team responsible for strategic input and execution of events and activities in alignment with Simon Business School’s strategic plan to increase student satisfaction and engagement. Responsible for new student orientation budgeting and programming, support of Simon-wide recruitment efforts, and student re-orientation activities. The Associate Program Director develops goals, desired outcomes, and baseline metrics to support and implement mission-supporting events and initiatives that foster strong community relations, ensure best practices are consistently implemented across programs, enhance student satisfaction, provide an efficient student onboarding process, support student clubs and organizations, uphold the SimonStrong values and promote Simon brand awareness. Key to the implementation and analysis of the MS and MBA student experience survey process.

Responsibilities:

25% Orientation/Onboarding Activities

  • Plans, budgets and provides event management, for weeklong new student orientations – approx. 600 incoming MBA and MS students from multiple countries with content offered different weeks depending on group size.

  • Plans and schedules a one-day retreat for returning second year MBAs

  • Develops orientation schedule coordinating with various departments (Admissions, Benet Center, IT, UHS, ISO etc) and with faculty to provide academic, career, leadership, EDI, teambuilding and ethics content.

  • Ensures the best image of the Simon Business School is experienced by attendees.

  • Negotiates with venues, consultants, and vendors to secure rates in line with budget.

  • Manages consultants and vendors prior to and during events to ensure seamless delivery.

  • Communicates with and directs all involved parties throughout the event cycle and ensures delivery of content to meet agreed upon timelines.

  • Leads cross-functional teams to develop and implement new programming and identify appropriate resources.

  • Communicates with incoming students to ensure completion of onboarding deliverables and provide resources as needed.

  • Conducts post-orientation survey to assess student satisfaction with the goal of achieving 4.5/5 ranking or better in alignment with Simon’s strategic plan.

35% Student Life Initiatives

  • Promotes and personally exhibits #SimonStrong values to new and returning students

  • Develops strategies, goals and expected outcomes for planned events and sources staff and resources to support implementation.

  • Develops and proposes annual budget for student life events, working with. Director of Student Life

  • Works independently with vendors and community partners to ensure effective delivery of programming

  • Uses continual process improvement methods to survey, track and report event metrics to meet student engagement goals and objectives.

  • Creates concepts for Simon Socials (year-long event series) and oversees implementation.

  • Partners with other Simon departments on developing content for prospective student, alumni-focused, and/or other community-wide events.

  • Oversees post-event coordination, including but not limited to debrief meetings, recognition of key constituents, data archiving, surveys, and reporting.

  • Manages internal platform that tracks and manages student life and club events

  • Provides event management training to student workers assisting with program/event delivery.

  • Manages and disseminates staffing assignments to internal event volunteers in advance of events.

  • Participates in domestic or international travel as on-site team support as needed.

  • Supports Director and other team members as needed.

20% Marketing, Communications, and Data Collection

  • Develops and disseminates regular Student Life-related communications to students, faculty, and team members through print, online, Slack, and social media; making purposeful connections between event goals and the School’s strategic plan.

  • Promotes student events and initiatives through value-based marketing to Simon students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

  • Defines, executes, monitors, and evaluates annual communications strategy in alignment with Simon’s needs and with Simon’s Marketing department.

  • Coordinate cross functionally with Simon Program Directors, Senior Associate Dean of Education and Innovation, faculty, student life, career center, academic operations and academic advising team to manage the; delivery, creation and analysis of the student MBA and MS student experience surveys

  • Manage the collection and analysis of all student engagement data by creating comprehensive reports, analyzing the results and presenting findings to relevant stakeholders.

  • Responsible for reviewing and maintaining the confidentiality of information collected through surveys, ensuring data security and privacy.

15% Club and Club Budget Oversight

  • Manages club communications regarding internal budget processes on a monthly and annual basis, including teaming with Accounts Payable and Simon’s Finance Department to ensure proper messaging on behalf of and in compliance with University and Simon guidelines.

  • Serves as Club Advisor for student clubs, offering strategic guidance for current and future planning, and strategic direction with the development and implementation of the club’s business plan.

  • Collaborates to provide oversight to student club budgets, including understanding proper payment process, club membership dues, distributing Simon annual club contributions, and event generated payments.

  • Supports logistics of event coordination for all clubs through processing club event proposals.

5% Other Duties as Assigned

  • Serves on University of Rochester committees related to Student Life/Student Affairs.

  • Supports Admissions recruiting events and Simon Diversity and Women’s conferences.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred.

  • Conveys a sense of ownership, feels personally accountable for effective implementation of tasks

  • Demonstrated teamwork skills and professionalism, ability to work seamlessly with faculty, staff, alumni, students, and external constituents

  • Excellent organization and project management skills, with a strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with a keen attention to detail

  • Outstanding communication skills, including direct interpersonal skills and strong writing and editing abilities

  • Strong knowledge of social media and experience with Adobe DreamSuite preferred in addition to experience with Slack, Black Board, MyEmma, Qualtrix, Simon Source and Canva.

  • Willingness and ability to work early mornings, evenings and weekends as needed to meet program objectives

  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as needed

Pay Range

Pay Range: $62,525 - $93,766 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
