Army Tank-Automotive and Armament Command (TACOM) Machine Tool Work Inspector Supervisor in Rock Island, Illinois

About the Position: This position is located at the Rock Island Arsenal Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center (RIA-JMTC). Responsibilities Serve as supervisor over the In-Process Inspection Branch. Supervise the duties and functions of Machine Tool Work Inspectors. Establish deadlines and priorities. Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures. Instruct employees in new work procedures. Review work in progress and on completion for accuracy. Coordinate work with other branches/directorates as required to ensure smooth operations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Term Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a Term Appointment Not To Exceed (NTE) 13 months. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to lead or supervise as a Machine Tool Work Inspector Supervisor. Applicants must meet the screen out element to be considered further. The work of the position normally includes: ability to lead or supervise Machine Tool Work Inspectors in a manufacturing environment in areas such as setting work schedules and establishing priorities, reviewing employee's work in progress or upon completion, planning work sequence to have work completed by deadlines.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools - Electronics Ability To Use Shop Drawings Knowledge of Metals Measurement and Layout Operation of Machine Tools Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Physical Efforts: None Working Conditions: Work is usually performed in a well lighted, heated, and ventilated shop. Inspector is exposed to constant noise, coolants, solvents, oils, grease, operating machinery and moving vehicles.
