BAC aka Brevard Achievement Center Finance Manager, Sr in Rockledge, Florida

MISSION:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or related field; supplemented by six or more years of progressively responsible financial analysis and report preparation experience, including at least two years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.

Employer conducts Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Level 2 background screening. May be required to have or obtain additional formal industry certification(s) based on area of assignment.

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the analysis and reporting of financial data
  • Developing and managing project budgets
  • Operate a computer using Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and applicable department/organization specific software such as accounting and other financial applications with a focus on Abila MIP Fund Accounting software
  • Read, analyze, and interpret program-related laws and regulations and establish necessary work processes and procedures
  • Manage multiple priorities to ensure that deadlines are met
  • Lead and motivate others to achieve goals
  • Use critical thinking skills to arrive at solutions and suggest improvements to processes
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Employer has attendance and punctuality standards
  • Communicate orally and in writing

JOB SUMMARY:

Plans, develops, organizes, implements, manages, and evaluates BACs fiscal function and performance ensuring compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Provides timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends to assist senior executives in making sound business decisions in the long and short term. Position is primarily focused on managing other people. Position requires extensive depth of expertise and knowledge in specialized functions or business areas that can be used to develop efficient and innovative ways to accomplish the organizations business strategies.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The list of essential functions below is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this job. Other duties may be assigned based on business need.

  • Responsible for the timely completion of month and year-end reports and journal entries for use in the preparation of financial statements
  • Prepares, reviews, and/or distributes monthly financial statements in an accurate and timely manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations
  • Prepares or oversees the completion of audit work papers on a monthly basis in preparation for the annual audit
  • Oversees all bank and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy
  • Maintains investment and financial reporting schedules, fixed assets, consolidated financials etc. in compliance with U.S. GAAP
  • Maintains grants and ensures that all related records are up to date and in order
  • Reviews all data entry from accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) to ensure accuracy
  • Responsible for lease payments and amortization schedules
  • Prepares and/or assists with annual tax reports and government filings
  • Produces monthly financial forecasts and provides comprehensive variance analysis against the budget, forecasts BACs monthly cash requirements

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Selects, motivates, and evaluates personnel; provides or coordinates staff training and development; works with employees to correct deficiencies; implements discipline and termination procedures
  • Assesses and monitors work methods and procedures; identifies opportunities for improvement and implements changes
  • Supports and participates in the development and administration of budgets.

TRAVEL

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of area and overnight travel may be expected.

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE (IF APPLICABLE)

Must be authorized to access and work on government installations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 40 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment. Physical Requirements can be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Tasks are regularly performed in an air-conditioned office. Some work will be performed outdoors with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions (e.g., dirt, heat, cold, rain, fumes).

SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Some tasks require manual dexterity.

Availability: Full Time

Salary/Rate of Pay: Starting at $85,000 per year
