fusionSpan Senior Training Specialist in Rockville, Maryland
fusionSpan (http://www.fusionspan.com/) is a fast-growing multinational information technology services company, and we are seeking a talented Training Specialist and Instructional Designer to join the team either remotely or at our Headquarters in Rockville, MD. This is an opportunity to help set the direction, craft training sessions, and materials for internal and external audiences. This is a visible role, which will interface with all areas of the fusionSpan organization.
The Training Specialist and Instructional Designer is responsible for delivering virtual training for both internal staff and fusionSpan customers, with the possibility of future in-person sessions. This role is also integral to developing and implementing onboarding programs, ensuring new employees are effectively introduced to the company’s tools, processes, and culture. In addition to training delivery, the specialist will develop and update content for client implementation projects and internal programs, including training videos, quick reference guides, online courseware, job aids, slide decks, and live training materials. The specialist will assist with the online training curriculum, maintain and manage the learning management system (LMS), and ensure all training courses are aligned with defined learning outcomes and performance objectives. Working closely with the Delivery team and other departments, the specialist will design, develop, and evaluate training programs to meet company standards and goals.
This role is a100% remote role.
Responsibilities:
Become a subject matter expert (SME) in all functional areas of fusionSpan technology projects to gain the ability to deliver training and provide knowledge transfer
Research and test product features, functionality, and changes to determine the scope of edits for assigned areas of documentation
Partner with Delivery, Human Resources, and Subject Matter Experts to develop clear, concise documentation for a variety of audiences (internal staff and customers) and validate existing course materials
Design lessons incorporating creativity, flexibility, and innovation in course design
Develop video scripts, storyboards, and record, produce, and edit training videos
Produce screenshots, flowcharts, and other graphics
Create required job aids, templates, and reference materials supporting the platform
Revise documentation to incorporate product updates and enhancements requested by customers and internal users
Assist with the development of curriculum for new courses
Assist with review and editing of new courses and content to ensure usability in a variety of platforms
Proofread and edit documentation to ensure consistency of language and style, as well as the correct application of templates
Understand business priorities and proactively look for ways to improve processes to create efficiency and scale
Interface professionally with stakeholders, business partners, and other internal employees and external clients
Perform other related duties as required
Showcase courses to business partners to maintain or acquire course accreditations.
Design and maintain comprehensive onboarding programs for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into their roles.
Create and deliver onboarding training sessions, including company policies, procedures, and role-specific tasks.
Develop onboarding materials such as manuals, guidelines, and quick reference guides to support new hires.
Provide ongoing support and resources to new hires during their initial period to ensure successful integration into the company.
Evaluate and improve the onboarding process based on feedback and best practices to enhance the new hire experience.
Required Qualifications:
2-5+ years of experience as a trainer/instructor, teacher, or relevant related field
2-5+ years of experience in instructional design and courseware development
High proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite or similar programs
Technical aptitude, ability to quickly learn how to use products, and enthusiasm for technology
Adept at communicating in a precise, clear, constructive manner to diverse stakeholders, subject matter experts, and community of learners
Skilled at developing training interventions, even when initial project requirements may be unclear and existing documentation limited
Proven excellent communication skills--verbal, written, and presentation
Attention to detail, with excellent proofreading/editing, writing, and verbal communication skills
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, amid varied, competing priorities
Must have an excellent work ethic, be a strong team player and consistently meet project deadlines
Some experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS)
Bachelor’s degree in Education/Training, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field preferred; or commensurate experience in lieu of formal education
Preferred Qualifications
Some experience with Salesforce CRM preferred
Experience in the consulting field preferred
Experience conducting virtual webinar-based training is strongly preferred
Experience in developing scripts, storyboards, and producing training videos; technology industry experience strongly preferred (Familiarity with eLearning development tools such as Camtasia, Captivate, or similar)
