The Power Transmission System division of UTAS ES in Rome NY is looking for a Designer/Drafter. As a Designer/Drafter, you will report directly to the Supervisor of Drafting in Rome, NY. You will be responsible for designing and drafting new part and unit drawings and drawing revisions of power transmission shafts and coupling, and hydraulic pumps for aircraft, and loading Bills of Materials in the MRP system (Teamcenter, SAP). This is all done to support Operations and Quality, and the timely delivery of quality parts to our Customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • 3D modeling and drafting of component and assembly parts using NX including the Bills of Material to transfer to SAP (ERP system)

  • Model and draft for New Product development; create entire drawing package for Design Reviews

  • Perform drawing changes from change request documents – reading the change request and performing the required changes

  • Designers must check their own work against mark-ups, change requests, reference drawings and drafting standards

  • Designing and drafting proposal drawings – new designs put together in short timeframe for quoting purposes

  • Perform tolerance stack-ups

  • Support Materials of Concern calculations for REACh certification

  • Follow and contribute to updating design standard work

  • Utilize EPEC Teamcenter PLM system daily

  • Prepare/export 3D models for analysis or to send to Customer/Supplier

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree OR

  • In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Experience with GD&T, standard drafting practices and bills of materials

  • Experience with Configuration Control practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teamcenter 11 and NX 11

  • MIL-STD’s

  • Export Classification

  • Willingness to work extra hours as needed
