Position Summary Information

 

Summary

Oversee and manage all aspects of the financial aid process to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies. The role involves strategic planning, policy development, and the effective administration of financial aid programs to support student access, affordability, and retention. Lead and manage the financial aid office team. Collaborate with various departments to coordinate efforts and support student success. 

 

Principal Functional Responsibilities

Financial Aid Management and Oversight: Meet and maintain the requirements to serve as the designated principal compliance official to the United States' Department of Education (E.D.). Responsible for the management and operation of financial aid services across the university in support of many federal, state and university aid programs. Manage the awarding of the university scholarship portfolio. Develop financial literacy and financial wellness programming for NEOMED students. Manage the awarding and disbursement of institutional scholarships and loans. Monitor and manage the financial aid budget. Primary liaison with information technology and with other internal NEOMED stakeholders.

 

Leadership: Supervise, train and evaluate the performance of financial aid staff. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of financial aid services. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that promotes professional growth and development. Effectively present and communicate NEOMED's financial aid and scholarship offerings to prospective students and students through university communication channels such as the web site, direct communication, and publications.

 

Compliance and Reporting: Manage financial aid compliance and accreditation monitoring, audits, report writing and archival. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies related to financial aid. Prepare and submit required reports and data to government agencies and institutional stakeholders signing off as the designated school official. Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure the integrity of financial aid operations and data. Responsible for submitting all federal and state yearly reports and applies for all federal, state and Veterans funding.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree

• Five years of experience in a higher education financial aid office, preferably in the non-profit sector, with experience in a financial aid office leadership role.

• Prior experience assisting with the management of a non-profit institutional financial aid program.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree or sufficient professional development experience in place of an advanced degree (awarded or in progress)

• Prior experience leading the management of a non-profit institutional financial aid program.

• Experience with Ellucian Banner, financial aid and billing module and extensive computer experience with Microsoft Office Suite software

• Prior designation as their institution's certifying official for the U.S. Education Department's federal Title IV aid programs, and experience directing U.S. Department of Veterans Administration programs, state grant and scholarship programs, institutional scholarships and remissions, and awarding any other aid provided by outside donors.
