In this job, you’ll ensure adherence to timekeeping and administrative rules and processes and ensure compliance of timekeeping activities with all applicable laws, polices, contracts and standards including Sarbanes-Oxley controls. You will consult with the Corporate Payroll management group on operational issues and will consult with Human Resources and the Labor Relation’s Group on procedural issues. Responsibilities
Delivers payroll operations and initiates process improvements to maximize service delivery standards, productivity, and cost effectiveness
Manages the payroll production schedule and business cycle processes
Ensures various documents such as accounting journal entries, funding and cash requests, wire requests, bank reconciliations, suspect check reports, escheat process and quarterly tax reconciliations and filings are prepared for record purposes or further use
Provide effective leadership, mentoring and guidance to team members to accomplish functional responsibilities
Serves as payroll subject-matter expertise for assisting with compliance issues
Observes that payroll transactions are properly classified and in compliance with accounting principles and internal/external audit requirements
Implements updated payroll related policies and procedures as needed
Supervises and monitors the payroll database to reflect changes in earning codes, deduction codes, direct deposit
Ensures reconciliations and other supporting documentation for annual financial audit, tax returns and worker's compensation audits are properly managed
Prepares identified and requested management reports
A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Five or more years combined experience performing or leading a payroll function.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, Accounting or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Strong knowledge and experience in Timekeeping-related applications such as SAP.
Demonstrated experience with payroll adjustments, timekeeping and corporate accounting.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to understand and respond to customer’s needs, and facilitate the presentation of recommendations
An understanding of the IBEW Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and how it impacts timekeeping.
Experience with SAP or similar enterprise software
Additional Information
This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
