Learn more about us at https://www.hawkinsinc.com/careers/ ABOUT THE JOB Operations / Engineering Interns are considered to be an integral part of the Operations Team and are provided with tasks that are both technically challenging, educationally stimulating, and beneficial for our operations. Under guidance of the Engineering and Operations Leadership Team, the program participant may be assigned to a team and/or work independently on specific projects, engineering drawings and documentation, calculations, tools, and/or engineering support of operations and continuous improvement. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Possible duties will include the following: Analyze and evaluate manufacturing methods while assisting team in identifying process improvements Assist in process equipment upgrades by managing scope, schedule, and budget for capital projects Create and update drawings using specific programs such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio Help specify process equipment and provide documentation for project files Help update and maintain engineering tools such as cost estimating worksheets, or dilution calculators Help update and maintain the maintenance management system with equipment datasheets and engineered drawing files Provide engineering support assistance for Operations, HSE, and Quality initiatives Create flow charts and spreadsheets in support of projects and operations Perform operational studies and engineering analysis to support project justification (Time Study, Capacity, Cost, etc.) Assist in Management of Change documentation for PSM/RMP covered process upgrades Assist in Lean manufacturing / Six Sigma training and Continuous improvement implementation Provide solutions to problems that adversely affect operator safety, quality, productivity, and cost Work with cross-functional teams consisting of staff from Operations, Quality, Technical, Engineering, and Supply Chain. REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE: Completed two years in engineering, manufacturing, or chemistry related degree Excellent written and verbal communication skills Must be detail oriented and possess excellent follow up skills Working knowledge of computer application software (MS Office, AutoCAD, etc.) Training will be provided if needed Must be flexible and able to meet deadlines Must be organized and able to adapt with priority changes Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to effectively work with employees at all levels within the organization and external customers, suppliers and vendors Physical work environment is typically indoors at a consistent temperature and occasionally outdoors with exposure to varying degrees of hot and cold environments.
