Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.

What You’ll Get To Do

Oversees and manages the technical aspects of prime contract requirement flow down to the supplier management team. Reviews status of traceability and allocation of requirements; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project and technical issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing and managing the operational aspects of new and ongoing projects to support program technical and non-technical requirements.

  • Work side by side with Supplier Management Teams (SMT) to support the development of Statement of Work (SOW) and Supplier Data Requirement Lists (SDRL) packages in IBM Rationale DOORS software.

  • Capture, track and manage prime and subcontract requirements and maintain 100% traceability of those requirements from the prime contract to the subcontract level.

  • Interface with stakeholders to derive master contract requirements to support subcontract Request for Proposals (RFP).

  • The ability to trace a master contract requirements to subordinate documents, ensuring compliance with the issued contract and specifications.

  • Assessing project issues and assisting in developing resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.

  • Coordinate with technical leads and specialty engineering on tailoring of statement of works

  • Contribute to product and process quality by helping to define and track metrics and leading indicators

  • Responsible for the development of the supplier statement of work template for the program

  • Coordinate with technical leads and specialty engineering on tailoring of statement of works

  • Partner with supply management to enable successful flow down and traceability to the statement of work

  • Contribute to product and process quality by helping to define and track metrics and leading indicators

  • Utilize DOORS for Statement of Work requirement management, allocation and traceability.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline from an accredited university

  • A minimum 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelors degree, 3 years with Masters, or 1 year with a PhD

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an Active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years

  • Experienced with technical requirements management

  • Experienced and highly proficient using Microsoft Office suite

  • Experienced with proven success managing multiple projects simultaneously

  • Experience with the following: Developing Statement of Work (SOW) and Supplier Data Requirement List packages (SDRL). Developing, Implementing and Updates on Project Schedules

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • IBM Rationale DOORS software experience

  • 1+ years experience in systems engineering

  • Experience with Supplier Statements of Work

  • Previous Project Management (or similar) knowledge/experience

  • Knowledge of Project Management principles and experience, ability to utilize them professionally

  • Practice in implementing Lean/Agile principles and methodologies

Salary Range: $92,600 - $139,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
