Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
- Experience working with children, preferably in an educational or childcare setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with teachers and other school staff.
- Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
- Knowledge of basic classroom management techniques.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the classroom teacher in delivering lessons, activities, and assignments for students.
- Provide individualized and small group instruction to students, reinforcing learning and concepts under the teacher's guidance.
- Support students with special needs, providing accommodations and modifications to help them succeed in the classroom.
- Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive, productive learning environment.
- Assist students with daily activities, including organization, transitions, and following routines.
- Monitor students during lunch, recess, and other non-classroom settings.
- Maintain communication with the classroom teacher regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns.
- Assist with the preparation and organization of instructional materials and resources.
- Support students with physical, social, or emotional needs, providing guidance and assistance as necessary.
- Observe and report student behavior and learning progress to the teacher, contributing to the development of student IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) when appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
- Attend professional development sessions and school meetings as required.
