Ruthven-Ayrshire CSD Special Education Paraeducator in Ruthven, Iowa

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • Experience working with children, preferably in an educational or childcare setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with teachers and other school staff.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
  • Knowledge of basic classroom management techniques.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher in delivering lessons, activities, and assignments for students.
  • Provide individualized and small group instruction to students, reinforcing learning and concepts under the teacher's guidance.
  • Support students with special needs, providing accommodations and modifications to help them succeed in the classroom.
  • Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive, productive learning environment.
  • Assist students with daily activities, including organization, transitions, and following routines.
  • Monitor students during lunch, recess, and other non-classroom settings.
  • Maintain communication with the classroom teacher regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns.
  • Assist with the preparation and organization of instructional materials and resources.
  • Support students with physical, social, or emotional needs, providing guidance and assistance as necessary.
  • Observe and report student behavior and learning progress to the teacher, contributing to the development of student IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) when appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
  • Attend professional development sessions and school meetings as required.
