Robert Half Medical Payment Poster Specialist in Sacramento, California
Description
We are seeking a meticulous and organized individual to join our client's team as a Medical Payment Poster. The primary responsibility of this role is to accurately post payments received from insurance companies, patients, and other payers into our medical billing system. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Receive and review payment documents from insurance companies, patients, and other payers.
Accurately post payments, adjustments, and denials into the medical billing system according to established procedures and guidelines.
Ensure all payments are applied to the correct patient accounts and services provided.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies or issues related to payments, including posting errors, underpayments, and overpayments.
Reconcile payment batches and deposit reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and internal staff to clarify payment details or resolve payment-related inquiries.
Maintain organized records of payment transactions and related documentation.
Assist in identifying trends or patterns in payment processing and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Stay updated on changes in billing and payment regulations, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, accounting, or related field preferred.
Proven experience in medical billing, payment posting, or a similar role within a healthcare setting.
Proficiency in using medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, insurance claims, and reimbursement processes.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
Ability to analyze payment documents and reconcile discrepancies effectively.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions independently when necessary.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy laws.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in medical billing and coding (e.g., Certified Professional Biller, Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist).
Previous experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance payers.
Familiarity with Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) documents.
Experience with reconciliation of payment batches and bank deposits.
