*Where You Will Work *

In operation since 2007, Safford operations is a zero-discharge facility and one of the most sustainable mines in the United States. The operation’s commitment to utilizing advanced technologies and sustainable practices strongly emphasizes safety and environmental stewardship. Located in southeastern Arizona, close to more than 4 million acres of national forest, employees and their families can connect with the great outdoors while fishing, rafting, hiking and more. Several educational institutions also are nearby, including a Northern Arizona University satellite campus, Eastern Arizona College, and the Gila Institute for Technology.  

Description

Provide technical advice and guidance for all phases of civil engineering projects and programs, ensuring the successful conclusion within an appropriate time and at an appropriate cost.

  • Review, investigate and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned engineering projects

  • Manage projects and serve as subject matter expert (SME) on large/complex site planning/construction, expansions, or modifications

  • Provide guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable processes, practices, and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulations

  • Contribute to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated engineering areas

  • Develop and evaluate AFE’s (Authorization for Expenditure) for capital funding requests

  • May evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment

  • May represent the site on company sponsored steering committees, task forces, or teams

  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related Engineering discipline and five (5) years related experience in Engineering or a related field, OR

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related Engineering discipline and three (3) years related experience in Engineering or related field

  • Working knowledge and experience with Civil Engineering applications, which could include design, construction and maintenance of infrastructure

  • Broad knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering

  • Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions

  • Skill in managing large/complex Engineering projects

  • Skill in effective communication, both verbal and written

  • Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement

  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions

  • Skill in following safety practices and recognizing hazards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification.

  • Demonstrate technical competence through Engineering and/or Operations experience in at least the following areas: earthworks, structural design, concrete design, steel fabrication details, rebar bending schedules, and construction practices.

  • Experience with metal mining operations, especially with regards to geotechnical, structural, earth, and concrete works.

  • Experience with cost estimating for projects of multiple disciplines, project scheduling, and project controls.

  • Skilled in related Engineering software, (AutoCAD/Civil3D), and programming languages.

  • Skilled in utilizing AutoDesk Construction Cloud

Criteria/Conditions:

  • Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see

  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday

  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.

*What We Offer You *

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently  $98,000-$137,000.  This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
