JOB TITLE: Saguache County Road & Bridge Operator 1

MUSTS: Must have a High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree) and six months or more of relevant experience. Must have a current and valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with heavy semi-truck endorsement. Must have experience amounting to a minimum of 6 months operating various types of equipment or heavy machinery. This could include farm equipment, heavy trucks, or industrial equipment. Must be able to accomplish divided attention to tasks (such as operating a piece of equipment and talking ont he radio). Must also submit and pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check, before being hired

SKILLS: Able to operate light and heavy equipment and perform manual labor in the maintenance, repair, and minor construction of roads, streets, bridges, signs, markings, and related facilities. Must be physically capable of working in extremely hot and/or cold weather conditions. Also physically capable of periods of sustained physical exertion and may be required to lift and move up to 75 lbs. To 150lbs. Ability to communicate both written and orally with members of the Department and public. Capable of working with motorized vehicles and equipment, including dump trucks, pickup trucks, water trucks, backhoes, loaders, graders, booms, compressors, pumps, welders, rollers, and trailers. In addition, common hand and power tolls, shovels, wrenches, radios and phones.

DUTIES: Under supervision, performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor in the construction and maintenance of public facilities, drives trucks , and operates light equipment, assists higher skilled craft personas as a trainee. Work tends to be routine and subject to close supervision, discretion is limited. This is generally the entry-level position for the operator series. Operates various types of light equipment and trucks and performs manual labor in the maintenance, repair, and minor construction of roads, streets, alleys, bridges, signs, and markings, building and maintenance, and related facilities. Will perform required preventative maintenance to equipment and tools used in performance of the work. May operate snow removal and sanding equipment as required. Must have knowledge of safety hazards and safety precautions as necessary to minimize injury to oneself, others, and the equipment one operates. Physical Duties include being able to work in various climate conditions and to be able to stand for long periods. Will need to have the strength to shovel or use other hand tools for extended periods of time. Will also need to be able to hear engine/hydraulic noises, emergency sirens, and back up alarms. WAGES: $19.88 per hour, depending on CDL certification and experience. Salary to be discussed further with the Employer. Paid Bi-weekly.

DURATION: This is a permanent full time 40 hours per week position.

SHIFT: Work hours will be Monday - Thursday from 7:00AM to 5:30PM.

JOB SITE: Saguache County Road & Bridge Shop/Saguache, Colorado, and other locations throughout Saguache County
