**Welder II
RESPONSIBILITIES**
Works under the general supervision of the Bridge Maintenance Supervisor. Operates welding and cutting equipment in the shop and in the field to build, repair or modify equipment, bridges, guardrails, etc.; reads blueprints, draws layouts, builds snow plows; orders welding supplies; operates truck with mounted welding equipment to project sites. Performs other bridge work maintenance and other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed above.
An example of acceptable qualifications for this position is: Completion of trade school and three (3) years welding experience or equivalent. Attained status as Journeyman welder through successful completion of four (4) year federally approved welding apprenticeship program. This position requires AWS D1-5 Unlimited Field Certification or obtaining AWS D1-5 Unlimited Field Certification within sixty (60) days after being employed in the position. This position requires heavy lifting of up to 85 pounds; long periods of stooping, squatting, bending, leaning and working in awkward positions. Individual must be capable of withstanding heights of approximately 30 feet. Must possess a valid Class B with Air Brake Endorsement Commercial Drivers License (CDL). Must pass physical examination including drug and alcohol screening.
