What Is the Opportunity?

Under limited supervision, acts as a subject matter expert supporting Industry Solutions (i.e. Industry Underwriting Portfolio Management), Product/Wordings and Underwriting Guidelines Development, and other Underwriting Office strategic initiatives as assigned.

What Will You Do?

Industry Solutions:

  • Leverages underwriting and industry expertise to contribute to the development of industry underwriting strategies for Canada, Business Insurance. As an Underwriting Officer, you will use your expertise to conduct industry underwriting portfolio analysis and influence underwriting strategy and product positioning in collaboration with various stakeholders (e.g. Home Office Underwriting, Field Underwriting, Product Management, Actuarial).

Product/Wordings and Underwriting Guidelines Development:

  • Reviews, updates, and creates insurance coverage forms and endorsements for Canada Business Insurance to ensure they meet Enterprise standards and coverage intent. Supports the development of underwriting guidelines to support corporate and underwriting strategies. Acts as a subject matter expert on Home Office Underwriting and Field Underwriting teams on wording issues and guidelines.

Other:

  • May participate in strategic initiatives and other projects.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • 7+ years of underwriting experience.

  • CIP designation.

  • Advanced or Intermediate knowledge of Property and Liability policy wordings.

  • Advanced or Intermediate Microsoft Office skills preferred (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word).Experience developing underwriting guidelines.

What is a Must Have?

  • 6 years of underwriting experience.
