Securian Financial Group Inc. Finance Manager, Business Partner Team in Saint Paul, Minnesota

The Finance Business Partner Team is responsible for supporting overall Expense Management of the Shared Service areas including Enterprise Technology. This team engages leaders in the budgeting and forecasting process, expense monitoring and variance analysis, and partnering with leaders to provide strategic insights and influencing financial recommendations through cost transparency. This position leads the team in facilitating regular collaboration between stakeholders and providing the opportunity to make a lasting impact on Securian Financial. Responsibilities: Lead a team of Finance Business Partners to provide strategic finance, expense management and leadership for the planning and budgeting process in support of Securian's Shared Service organizations. Partner with team and managers to help them understand expenses relative to budget, building financial acumen across our teams, supporting expense management objectives and help influence sound decision making. Oversee team to support quarterly close process, including ownership for accruals and review of allocation results to ensure accurate results. Serves as a liaison between Shared Services and Solutions Groups receiving allocations, responsible for understanding and reviewing results with Solution Groups. Supports activities and initiatives to build financial acumen across Securian, leads team to embrace business case practices (CBAs) and include financials as part of decision making. Supporting Shared Services leaders ensuring projects are managed relative to budgets. Responsible for team design, structure, competency and skill development, and talent management Develops and implements a finance business partner catalogue of services - Lead one team, delivering a wide range of finance business partner support. Requirements: BS/MBA in finance-related field (accounting, finance, actuarial, etc.) A proven and demonstrated leader, with years of experience in finance leadership roles and/or leading and developing a finance business partner team. Solid analytical and creative problem-solving skills and high attention to detail. Demonstrated financial data analysis and problem-solving skills to effectively research, analyze, and respond to expense questions. Self-starter with strong organizational and time-management skills, an ability to work with minimal direction, flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and schedules, handle multiple issues simultaneously, and to manage stressful situations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to articulate complex financials with differing audiences. Preferred Requirements: Background in Shared Service/Enterprise Technology expense and staff management. Apptio, SAP or other BI tools experience. Understanding of insurance accounting principles/financial reporting Securian Financial believes in hybrid work as an integral part of our culture.
