Job Summary

Superior is looking for a Project Manager / Estimator to work in the Salem, VA region. This position has dual responsibility of estimating bid work for the company and managing acquired work throughout the project life cycle ensuring projects are completed timely and within budget.

Responsibilities/Duties

Job Duties

  • Read proposals and specifications to ensure accruate preparation of bids or RFP's for private and VDOT work.

  • Estimate cost and pricing for projects.

  • Process customer change orders and communicate impacts of changes internally and externally.

  • Visit and walk job sites during project lifecycle.

  • Contract and/or coordinate subcontractor work.

  • Coordinate work demands with Operations Managers to meet production deadlines.

  • Keep abreast of current building and development in the area to seize opportunities for new work.

  • Proactively develop relationships with potential customers.

  • Maintain existing customer relationships and ensure customer satisfaction with product quality.

  • Schedule and attend customer meetings.

  • Comply with all state contractual requirements throughout lifecycle.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Required Skills

Job Requirements

  • 2 years project management experience with a customer focus.

  • 3-5 years civil engineering experience preferred.

  • Heavy Construction/Asphalt experience preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills.

  • Ability to use estimating software. Experience with estimating software preferred.

  • Knowledge of pertinent state, local and private requirements and regulations.

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and long days as necessary.

  • Must be able to work well with a variety of personalities and levels within the organization.

  • Must be able and comfortable visiting job sites when necessary.

  • Valid Virginia drivers license with a good driving record.

  • Ability to travel locally and throughout Virginia.
