POSITION DESCRIPTION

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under supervision; performs billing procedures and customer consumption record keeping; operates personal

computer to provide utility information for meter reading to meter billing. Work varies, exercises limited judgement

within prescribed standards and procedures allowing for some leeway for discretion and independent action.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

o Operates a personal computer to convey meter reading information to computer main frame for utility billing;

operates auxiliary equipment.

o Creates and maintains files.

o Identifies errors or omissions in data submitted; verifies input; updates information.

o Processes bills and reports.

o Researches problems, reading and billing errors; makes corrections.

o Performs overtime as needed and other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION - RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS:

None.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the following:

o High school diploma or G.E.D.; continuing education in accounting preferred.

o Three (3) years of experience in basic accounting and customer service.

o Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs; Tyler Utility Billing experience desired.

o Advanced ability to operate a 10-key calculator/keyboard.

Post to and maintain accurate meter reading records on a timely basis in accordance with established procedures.

Provide supervisors with reports in a timely manner. (Daily)

Work Type: Light, exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a

negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Climbing/Balancing: Minimal, ability to sit and stand.

Walking: Minimal amount required.

Stooping/Bending: Frequently.

Stand/Sit: Sit about 75 percent of the time.

Reaching: Occasional, overhead as well as horizontal.

Vision: Adequate to perform essential job functions.
