This individual will provide product expertise on John Deere’s product lines and build long term relationships to maximize company profitability and market share. This individual will be expected to lead a team specializing in the equipment lines in order to provide support to internal and external customers on the products. This role will also be responsible for identifying, developing and providing technical training to employees and customers with the ultimate goal to improve technical competency of the intended audience. This individual will also be responsible for supervising the Product Specialist for their assigned areas.
Specific Duties Include:
Demonstrate leadership in all aspects of the region.
Supervise, direct and motivate a team to accomplish the company’s objectives.
Obtain training instructor qualifications according to the John Deere Certified Dealer Instructor program.
Increase market share and profitability for the stated range of products within the geographic area.
Promote, sell and ensure execution of Value Added Services.
Provide employee training including classroom time, as well as hands-on training at multiple locations.
Professionally facilitate and present to an audience
Work with location managers to determine gaps and areas of opportunity for training.
Gather and research information to create and deliver technical training concepts for John Deere Agriculture equipment as well as revise materials for existing classes.
Be an expert in machine operation and help build teams of experts to help ensure customers achieve maximum value from their equipment.
Execute the John Deere Precision Ag strategy of using technology to provide maximum value for our customers and to build loyalty.
Develop relationships and network throughout the industry to monitor and participate in all product activities. Know the market and where the future challenges would be and help determine how to best address those challenges.
Create opportunities by evaluating customer fleets and techniques, and proactively propose better solutions
Proactively work with locations to ensure demonstrations of equipment are organized and professional.
Work with Store and Sales Management to coordinate and help execute promotional events such as field days, clinics, and farm shows.
Track all activities in company provided systems.
Provide onsite operation training. Regularly follow up with Sales Department on customer’s deliveries to insure they remain fully trained, well supported and highly satisfied with our products and services.
Communicate regularly with Store/General Managers and Sales Professionals and all other store personnel to share information on activity within their regions.
Be a primary channel of communication for product line and AMS product technical and commercial issues with our manufacturing partners.
Be an active and highly visible participant in industry groups and events and keep abreast of competitive activity and competitive products.
Always seek additional sales, parts and service opportunities for company and reporting those prospects to the appropriate parties.
Prepare reports for business transactions and keep expense accounts.
Demonstrate a willingness to learn.
Ensure that appropriate communications take place throughout the location/s by facilitating/participating in monthly open-book meetings, conducting regular team meetings, encouraging an open-door policy, and proactively seeking feedback from team members.
Foster an engaged work environment within the location/s, encouraging accountability, open communication, teamwork, and a commitment to serving the customer.
Lead and manage all business and/or department activities related to ensuring the customer experience is positive and that all team members are committed to creating solutions and long term relationships with customers.
Ensure that the company/location reputation and image in the community is consistent with RDO Equipment Co. Core Values, and that business relationships with all stakeholders are not compromised.
Manage the evaluation, allocation, and management of physical and financial resources and administer the hiring, development/training, management, evaluation, and effective assignment of people resources.
Responsible for ensuring that sound and safe business practices and processes are implemented and continuously improved to effectively and efficiently achieve ethical business objectives.
Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.
Job Requirements:
John Deere Ag Management Solutions / GreenStar knowledge required
Knowledge of farm industry and general farming practices
Willingness to be on call 24/7 during critical farming seasons
Must be able to work independently
Travel between stores by automobile and by air
Valid driver’s license and insurable record required
Must have good communication and interpersonal skills
Proven experience presenting and training in front of large groups of people
Good computer skills including Microsoft Office products
Previous supervisory/management experience preferred
Experience in Agronomy with a CCA license or the ability to obtain one is preferred
Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
