Description

Wheeler Machinery Co. is seeking a Machine Technology Technician as our dealership’s field support technician for calibrating, installing, troubleshooting, updating, and repairing CAT Machine Technology systems including but not limited to ProductLink, CAT Grade, CAT Payload, CAT Detect, and CAT Assist. The technician will possess the ability to problem solve, learn new technologies and be able to develop relationships with our customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a zero-accident environment, is Safety Oriented and will abide by all Wheeler Safety Programs.

  • Perform machine technology hardware and software calibrations, repairs, updates, installations, and troubleshooting to CAT Machine Technology systems including but not limited to ProductLink, CAT Grade, CAT Payload, CAT Detect, and CAT Assist.

  • Provide customer training on CAT Machine Technologies.

  • Order parts and complete service reports on the day work is completed.

  • Communicate with customer and supervisor to ensure safe working environment of the machines during repairs.

  • Work duties are performed at customer job locations across Wheeler Machinery’s dealer territory.

  • Other work duties as assigned.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Required Qualifications:

  • A positive attitude.

  • Ability to work well within a team environment.

  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively with others in person, on the phone, and by e-mail.

  • Shop and/or field service experience with heavy and/or light construction equipment.

  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, particularly on Caterpillar equipment and engines.

  • Good computer and organizational skills. Adapts well to new technologies.

  • Can understand and follow wiring schematics.

  • Ability to multitask while paying attention to detail.

  • Must have all tools required for field service work.

  • Must have a clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Report).

  • High School diploma (or GED/High School Equivalence Certificate).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of VisionLink and other Caterpillar applications or other OEM telematics and technology systems, applications, and operations.

  • CAT Construction Technology, telematics and /or ProductLink installation, diagnostic, and repair experience.

  • Caterpillar or other OEM equipment dealership experience.

  • Working knowledge of Caterpillar parts, Caterpillar Electronic Technician software, and Service Information System (SIS).

  • Trimble hardware and/or software experience.
