Principal Duties

As a Financial Manager I,you will:  

  • Budget creation and management: Develop,manage and monitor budgets to ensure financial targets are met. Work closely with leadership to prepare accurate forecasts and address variances.
  • Account Reconciliations: Oversee and perform regular account reconciliations to maintain compliance and internal controls across all our financial operations.
  • Transaction Approval: Review and approve financial transactions in the FINET and D365 systems to ensure they align with organizational policies and are accurately recorded.
  • Interpretation of Financial Information: Analyze financial data and reports to provide insightful interpretations that guide decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Manage Special Projects: Lead and manage special financial projects as assigned,ensuring they are completed on time and within scope.
  • Strategic Recommendations: Make informed recommendations based on financial analyses to support agency initiatives and improve overall financial performance.
  • Cultivate a Winning Team Culture: Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment. Mentor and guide team members to enhance their skills and contribute effectively to the organization.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support the financial operations and goals of the agency.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who:

  

  • Has experience with the State s accounting system,FINET.
  • Has experience with the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Accounting system.
  • Has outstanding communication skills both written and verbal
  • Has understanding of GASB,FASB and/or GAAP
  • Is able to pass a Criminal History Background Check.
  • Is 21 years of age or older.

Retirement - Utah Retirement Systems (URS):

  • Employer contributions equal to 10% of your salary between both a pension and 401(k) plan or a 401(k) only plan.

  • Employer contributions to your 401(k) are vested after four years.

  • Eligible employees may accrue 4 hours of annual leave and 4 hours of sick leave each pay period. (Annual leave accrual r te increases with years of service).
