Job Summary
Perform duties associated with Magnetic Resonance Imaging in a scientific and diagnostic work
setting. This position will provide coverage as a MRI technologist that will involve both research and clinical exams. The MRI technologist will scan patients according to specific protocols and parameters, follow department policies, confidently perform IV catheter insertion, adhere to strict MRI safety guidelines and rules, and practice exceptional patient care. The MRI technologist will operate patient monitoring equipment. The MRI technologist will support research by collaborating with a variety of investigators and clinical trials and be knowledgeable in good clinical practice standards. The MRI technologist will work with large data sets and image uploads. The work hours will vary and can include evening and weekend shifts. No on-call is required.
Responsibilities
Performs duties associated with Magnetic Resonance Imaging, ionizing radiation and associated research projects. This includes the supervision of research clients and groups, consenting of research subjects and interaction with study coordinators and primary investigators (PI) to setup MRI procedures and protocols. Other responsibilities include scheduling subjects and assisting in providing MR imaging research support. The MRI Technologist must be able to follow requested instructions for specific research projects as well as follow the instructions given by a radiologist for any clinical diagnostic examinations. This position requires a broad understanding of the transferring and storage of large data sets. The MRI technologist will be working with anesthesia units, subject monitoring devices, and pressure injectors. This job entails working with human and non-human research projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Required
Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Current licensure to practice as a Radiologic Technologist in the State of Utah.
One of the following:
ARRT Registration as Magnetic Resonance Imaging R.T. (MR) ( ARRT ).
MRI Technologist Certification from the American Registry for Resonance Imaging Technologists ( ARMRIT ).
Preferred
- Three years of technical experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. Preferences

Experience with Siemens MRI scanners
Experience with EPIC
Computer skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Knowledge of HIPPA
Able to work in or near the MRI machine (no contraindicated implanted devices)
Completion of CITI training within 6 months of hire
