Key Duties/Responsibilities: The Staff Accountant plays a crucial role in maintaining financial records and supporting accounting practices and objectives that drive a high-performance culture emphasizing empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment and ethics. This position will provide accounting support for the Salt Lake City business unit and will work actively with Accounting, Operations Finance, Manufacturing, and other functions to understand key drivers and metrics. This position reports directly to the business unit Accounting Manager and is part of a team that is chartered to help mature a rapidly growing business. Key Duties/Responsibilities include: Financial Analysis and Support * Support month-end and year-end close activities; including processing journal entries and other transactions, performing balance sheet account reconciliations, and reviewing the trial balance and performing analytical procedures. * Maintain SOX control compliance and support internal, external and government audits. * Assist with CAPEX, CIP and PPandE related transactions. * Support operations finance, manufacturing, and other functions with financial data, metrics, and regular reporting. * Monitor indirect expenses and support the budgeting/reporting process. * Provide tax support (Property, Sales and Use). * Support the business unit in the continuous advancement of analytical capabilities to support real time management decision making. * Actively identify and participate in process improvement activities. * Provide ad hoc assistance, analysis, and reporting as required by management.

Position Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities): * Ability to work independently and as a team member with minimal supervision. * Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication, and presentation skills. * Strong financial acumen with the ability to research and identify problems, conduct analysis independently and in collaboration with others, and develop solutions. * Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, advanced Excel skills preferred. * Strong sense of commitment to meeting deadlines and self-management. * Effective written and verbal communication skills. * Attentive to detail but able to see the large picture. * Understanding of accounting principles, practices and standards. Day Monday - Friday 7am-330pm

  • Bachelor's degree with 1+ year(s) of experience, Accounting/Finance preferred.
  • Advanced degree or additional years of experience preferred.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • SAP and/or government contracting experience is a plus but is not required for success in this position.

Working Conditions Office environment, duties performed indoors, moderate to quiet noise and comfortable temperatures. Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental condition levels. Ability to work flexible schedule and be available as business situations require. Travel may be required
