Job Summary

The Campus Store is seeking an E-Commerce Web Development Intern to support the internal E-Commerce needs of the Campus Store. This position, you will gain experience and learn essential industry skills by assisting our team withall aspects of web development, from startup (design, functionality, coding, mark-up writing, and testing) to routine maintenance and troubleshooting. This position will be responsible for updating, implementing, and maximizing functionality of the University Campus Store’s website. This position will work to improve the front-end infrastructure of the website while helping to maximize the Campus Store’s SEO presence. Will work directly with the E-Commerce Manager to create a vibrant, easy to use website for the University community.

Responsibilities

Participate in Teams meetings to learn about, analyze and estimate upcoming changes.

Apply modern and structured programming techniques that adhere to our coding standards.

Debug and take ownership of previously written code.

Managing and implementing designs created by our graphic design team

Content creation and optimization for both existing and new content

Design, recommend and pitch improvements to new and existing features.

Assist in troubleshooting issues on web-based systems.

Update and edit website content, posts and pages.

Provide technical support related to web-based systems to internal teams.

Test and give feedback on new and existing technologies.

Create prototypes and experiment with new technologies and features as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current University of Utah student.

Preferences

Demonstrated leadership in work and/or academics.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact comfortably at all levels of the organization including senior level leaders.

Proficiency in HTML , CSS , JavaScript, and related technologies.

Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.

Experience with web and mobile design.

Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Must possess a strong customer service orientation with high sense of urgency in meeting goals and deadlines.

Ability to influence and think creative and strategically.

Ability to analyze and problem solving.

Preference will be given to students with related technical coursework and/or professional experience.
