POSITION INTRODUCTION:The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings, requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
  • Tape or paint areas of the floor for equipment staging.
  • Paint structures and equipment.
  • Use appropriate chemicals and solvents to clean industrial plant equipment and machinery.
  • Minor maintenance of facilities to include replace door handles, replace light bulbs, etc.
  • Repair or replace concrete floors, steps, sidewalks, damaged paneling, floor tiles, and windowpanes.
  • Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Operate equipment such as scissor lifts for operations.
  • Attend regular safety meetings and trainings to maintain a safe working environment for all customers and employees.

ESSENTIAL ABILITIES:

  • Meet physical demands which includes frequent lifting/carrying 50+ pounds.
  • Computer skills to include internet navigation, Windows Operating System, and familiarity with Web Based Software.
  • Able to effectively communicate with other Beacon employees and customers both verbally and email.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to a military installation through a background check.
  • Valid State Driver\'s License.
  • 1-year experience performing trade work such as painting, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.

BENIFICIAL:

  • Experience working in an industrial environment.
  • Experience working in a military setting.
  • Current forklift certification.
  • Experience using industrial cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and shampooers.
  • Previous experience performing general data entry into an electronic database.
