BioBridge Global Laboratory Technician, Post Analytical Processing Specialist, Lab Services in San Antonio, Texas

QualTex Laboratories is an FDA-registered and CLIA-certified organization that provides state-of-the-art, high volume capacity donor screening and biological testing services. It is one of the largest independent, nonprofit testing laboratories in the United States and has locations in San Antonio and Atlanta

Shift: Tuesday through Saturday 6:00am to 2:30pm Training may occur on different shift. General Summary

Responsible for the post-analytical processing of samples by method of salvage program or bio medical waste disposal. Responsible for performing pre ‐ analytical services such as sample relabeling and other tasks, as assigned.

Maintain knowledge of all current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) required to perform effectively. Maintain excellent communication with the Department and other Laboratory Services personnel.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Tasks

Competently perform all assigned departmental duties.

Performs Pre ‐ Analytical tasks [relabeling and assisting with QC of boxes during box reception.]

Performs Post-Analytical tasks [ disposal, and create salvage products, shipment of salvage product, and using manual or automated systems.]

Identify incomplete testing through the salvage application and forward samples appropriately.

Assist with incoming box reception, as needed.

Maintain strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Prepare and maintain reports/records in an accurate and timely manner.

Perform computer data entry.

Operate equipment utilizing established protocols and within quality control limits.

Recognize equipment malfunctions and/or technical problems and take appropriate steps to resolve.

Maintain departmental supplies within established inventory levels.

    Non-Essential Tasks

    Run departmental errands as directed.

    Education

    Requires a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.

    Prefers an Associate Degree from an accredited college or university in a specialized area.

    Preferred education physical sciences or the laboratory field.

    Licenses and/or Certifications

    Medical Technician or Certified Laboratory Assistant preferred

    Experience

    No prior specific work experience required.

    Prefer one or more years of laboratory experience.

    Knowledge

    Must maintain knowledge of and perform according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies. Must acquire a working knowledge of department procedures.

    Skills

    Must be able to operate laboratory and/or other job related equipment.

    Must maintain competency in laboratory skills for liquid and material handling.

    Must have strong computer skills.

    Must be able to print and write legibly.

    Abilities

    Must be able to keep information confidential.

    Must be able to work with interruptions and perform repetitive tasks.

    Must be neat in appearance and well groomed.

    Must be professional, detail oriented, self-motivated, innovative, creative, assertive, organized, communicative, and have the ability to work independently.

    Must have the ability to answer telephones in a friendly and courteous manner.

    Working Environment

    Works in a well-lighted air conditioned and heated laboratory/department.

    May be exposed to electrical, mechanical and chemical hazards and other conditions common to a laboratory environment.

    May be exposed to blood borne pathogens and other conditions common to a clinical laboratory environment.

    May have bodily exposure to refrigerator/freezer temperature, especially hands and face.

    Will work extended hours during peak periods.

    May be required to work any time of the day, evening or night during the week or weekend.
