Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Product Manager to join our Analytics & Innovation organization.

In this role, you will work closely with Refining IT, Refining business partners, Data Partners, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and technical team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality products that meet the needs of our stakeholders within the Refining organization. The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for defining product roadmaps in collaboration with Refining IT, managing Epics and Features that align to those roadmaps, facilitating communication between technical and business stakeholders, providing domain expertise, and supporting continuous improvement. This role specifically entails planning and strategizing future Analytics & Innovation solutions within our enterprise Insights & Discovery Platform that will benefit the Refining organization and the larger enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops customer and internal facing product development strategies with superior user experience across multiple verticals, including vision, goals, and customer needs; accountable for established or moderately complex products and/or product lines.

  • Builds and prioritizes product roadmaps and plan releases. Ensures alignment between teams to prioritize product roadmaps, plan releases, and align them with business objectives and value generation.

  • Collaborates with portfolio teams, stakeholders, and business representatives to address and resolve issues that arise during product development.

  • Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Refining IT teams, Analytics & Innovation product development teams, and business and operations teams, to align on product strategies, gather insights, and plan releases.

  • Identifies product-related issues, makes decisions, and continuously analyzes trade-offs to ensure development stays on track toward deliverable commitments.

  • Prioritizes the short-term feature backlog and releases, as well as the long-term product roadmap.

  • Conducts or facilitates customer research, product discovery and synthesizes market factors into a cohesive product strategy.

  • Collaborates with customers to understand challenges & valuable opportunities.

  • Collects quantitative data and takes a data driven approach to evaluate the viability of product initiatives.

  • Builds and prioritizes a backlog of Epics and Features to connect strategy to execution; ensures items clearly communicate the customer and stakeholder needs to meet key business objectives and produce value.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, related field or equivalent work experience; Product Owner certification or Product Management certification preferred.

  • Industry experience in Refining operations preferred.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience required.

  • Agile Methodologies - Agile project management is an iterative approach to delivering a project throughout its life cycle, taking incremental steps towards the completion of a project.

  • Backlog Management - A prioritized list of work for the development team that is derived from the roadmap and its requirements. The most important items are shown at the top of the product backlog so the team knows what to deliver first.

  • Human-Centered Design - An approach to problem solving, commonly used in design and management frameworks that develops solutions to problems by involving the human perspective in all steps of the problem-solving process.

  • Product Development - The creation, innovation, enhancement or improvement of an existing product, or developing an entirely new kind of product to satisfy the requirements of its end-users.

  • Product Lifecycle Management - The handling of a good as it moves through the typical stages of its product life: development and introduction, growth, maturity/stability, and decline.

  • Product Strategy - The process of outlining a company's strategic vision for its product offerings by stating where the products are going, how they will get there and why they will succeed.
