Role Overview
The Packer is responsible for packing nails into boxes from the collator line, stacking completed boxes onto pallets and ensuring that the quality of the nails are up to our specifications.
Packers report to the Department Production Manager/Production Supervisor or designate. The role involves significant physical exertions such as having to move up and down stairs, bend, lift, carry items, push and pull, grip, etc. Safety is our # 1 priority.
Shift Premiums are provided for the required shift assigned. All applicants must be able to work the shifts outlined below:
Day Shift: 6:00am to 2:30pm - No Shift premium
Swing Shift: 2:00pm to 10:30pm - Shift premium
Night Shift: 10:00pm to 6:30am - Shift premium
Compensation
The position rate of pay is $18.00 per hour, plus there is potential to earn between $18-19 per hour.

Examples of Duties
Packing collated nails from 2 machines into boxes between 35lbs and 50lbs
Operation of production machinery
Operation of forklift
Assisting senior Machine Operators at assigned workstations (i.e., lifting/moving product up to 50 lbs.)
Operate a staple gun
Set up the machine, which includes glue and plastic
Load and operate bulk feeder assemblies
Stack packed boxes onto pallet
Assemble cardboard boxes
Apply proper identifying label
Accurately record and report all production
Warehouse/manufacturing work (i.e., moving up and down stairs, bending, lifting, and carrying items)
Production department housekeeping (i.e., sweeping, machine cleaning, shoveling, painting, vacuuming, etc.)
Participate in all site-specific training as required
Perform other related duties to support the overall success of the operation
What You’ll Bring
Physically fit, able to lift 50lbs
Able to follow all safe work practices
Must have CSA-approved steel-toed safety boots with non-slip sole
Mechanically inclined is considered an asset
Able to follow direction
Good written and verbal communication skills
Access to a readily available vehicle is preferred
Previous manufacturing experience in an industrial environment is considered an asset
Sit-down forklift experience is considered an asset
