Responsibilities

Work Schedule:

Coverage shifts available: Sunday - Saturday, 8.5 to 16 hours, Days and Nights

On-Call, plus minimal Call-Back required

Flexibility a must

Job Specific Position Duties: The duties include, but are not limited to the following:

CORE Duties:

• Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF.

• Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.

• Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.

• Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.

• Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.

• Technically proficient in directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational lectures and participating in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Such direction and interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols.

Duties- Specific:

In addition to the duties listed in the basic contract, the following additional or supplemental duties are required for HCWs on this TO. The duties for the HCW are as follows but not limited to:

 Provide preoperative assessment, intra-operative and postoperative management of surgical patients or patients requiring procedures outside the operating room, e.g. MRI, CT, and Invasive Radiology.

 Advocate for the patient in the operating room.

 Evaluate the patient’s medical history, recent medications, and medical condition.

 Inform the patient about the procedures associated with their surgery; discuss the anesthetic choices, their risks, and benefits.

 Order laboratory tests and prescribe medication as appropriate.

 Possess and maintain current competency in Electronic Health Record and Information Systems used at Naval Medical Center San Diego.

 Attend the monthly Anesthesia Department meetings.

 Participate in education of Residents, Student Nurse Anesthetists, medical students, and other traine

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

* Education: M.D. or D.O.; Have graduated from a fellowship training program in Pediatric anesthesiology.

* Experience: Minimum 2 years experience, within the past 3 years

* License: Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state

* Board Certification: Possess and maintain board certification in Anesthesiology from either the American Board of Anesthesiology or the American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology.

* Life Support Certifications: BLS; other certifications may be required as part of the credentilaing process

* Security: Must be able to pass a Government background check and obtain a Government security clearance.

Pay Scale: $192/hr to $280/hr, to be determined based on employment options, qualifications, experience, and location
