Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$23.750 - $29.477 - $35.204

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do

To assist the Public Relations & Communications division of the Marketing & Communications Department in its daily internal and external communications activities through special projects coordination, writing, editing, research, press clipping and database maintenance and clerical and administrative support to facilitate corporate marketing and communications goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, marketing, communications or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a corporate setting or public relations agency.

  • Experience with social media.

Essential Functions

  • Administrative and project coordinationCoordinates Sharp Communications, manages editorial calendar for internal communications, sends out system-generated emails and responds to or routes replies.Creates and distributes Health Headlines, a compendium of health news stories distributed to staff each Tuesday and Sharp News & Events, a compendium of Sharp news distributed to staff every Wednesday.Posts Sharp news mentions and other non-Sharp Health News content to Sharp HealthCare social media accounts.Posts system communications on SharpNET.Tracks Sharp mentions in broadcast, print and online media as well as tracking competitor mentions.Prepares monthly public relations activity reports.Writes Sizzle Reel script 6x per year for board presentations and internal sharing.Posts Sharp news mentions and other relevant news items to social media.Edits message on-hold scripts and submits copy to talent vendor each month for recording.Creates and tracks the agenda for bi-monthly system public relations meetings.Shares scribe responsibilities and posts Mash Up (Huddle) summaries, as needed.Coordinates quarterly employee forums and posts forum Q&A on SharpNET.Provides event support for special events, such as the annual Women’s Health Conference.Maintains login information and provides administrative support for media search and database resources.Maintains "expert list" and other items on Sharp.com media center site.Maintains confidentiality according to department policy.Helps maintain department and media subscriptions.

  • ClericalEstablishes and maintains accurate filing and other systems to ensure smooth operations of department.

  • Customer serviceMaintains a professional and positive demeanor with all customers served.Promptly responds to telephone, e-mail, verbal or other written requests and communications.

  • Public relationsWrites assigned internal and external communications using accepted journalistic or corporate writing style. Proofs materials for internal and external distribution.Creates and distributes media advisories and/or calendar listings for local broadcast, print and online media.Pitches news stories as assigned and interacts with media.Attends Sharp HealthCare media events for public relations on-site support.Works alongside public relations lead and staff at other sites for marketing support.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have excellent communication skills including knowledge of principles of grammar and punctuation, and business and marketing communications writing skills. Must be detail-oriented and have excellent organizational ability.

  • Must be math and computer literate and skilled in using Word/Excel/email software.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring minimal supervision.

  • Health care knowledge or experience helpful.
