Translational Immunomics, Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine uses multidimensional multimodal data (including transcriptomics, genetics and proteomics) to support portfolio projects and to develop precision medicine approaches within the Immunology Therapeutic Area.

The successful candidate will contribute to the computational biology and genomics strategy for Immuno-Dermatology programs and will be effective in the use of relevant computational tools to deliver timely and comprehensive analysis and interpretation of high-dimensional biological data across all aspects of portfolio development.

The Senior Scientist will serve as a computational biology analyst in the Immuno-Dermatology area and will be accountable for analytical and platform support for clinical trial data, development of molecular understanding of human inflammatory skin disease, as well as deriving impactful insights and communicating resulting findings to key stakeholders to improve understanding of the disease biology and the structure of patient populations.

We are looking for a knowledgeable, motivated and collaborative computational biologist with a passion for precision medicine and tailoring therapy to patients for better outcome. Most importantly, we seek someone who shares our belief that human molecular data holds the key to developing better pharmaceutical strategies that will transform the lives of patients.

The holder of this position will be mentored by a highly qualified computational biology leader, with experience both in the industry and academia, and will be embedded in a team of computational biology researchers, including bioinformaticians, computer scientists, and omics platform developers. As part of Translational Sciences in Immunology, the scientist will interact with clinical, experimental and leadership teams across the Immuno-Dermatology area. Ongoing collaborations will provide an opportunity to interact with key opinion leaders in dermatology. The position offers opportunities to develop leadership skills in a highly productive industrial environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effective use of relevant computational tools to deliver analyses of high-dimensional biological ('omics) data to support all aspects of portfolio development in immuno-dermatology

  • Coordinating and delivering computational support across portfolio programs

  • Design and execution of data analysis, interpretation of results, documentation and generation of analysis reports

  • Analytical support for multi-omics collaborative projects

  • Deriving impactful insights and communicating findings to key stakeholders to improve understanding of inflammatory skin disease biology and patient heterogeneity

  • Accurate documentation of developed methodology and results, for internal dissemination and high-quality publications

  • Project Leadership s with internal groups/external collaborators

Qualifications

Required:

  • A PhD degree in a relevant field, related to use of computational or statistical analysis to decipher biology from high dimensional data, including computational biology, computational immunology, bioinformatics, or a related field 3-5 years of relevant post-doctoral experience.

  • Proficiency in standard coding-based analytical platforms (e.g., R, Python, etc.).

  • Documented ability to analyze and interpret human genetic data.

  • Experience in analyzing high-throughput proteomic platforms (MS, OLINK) data.

  • Academic/industrial experience using computational biology to discover clinical insights from molecular data.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience in immune-dermatology or a highly related field such as T-cell biology.

  • Experience in methodologies for data integration, network/pathway analysis, genomics, statistical modeling, machine learning methodologies and their application to molecular, clinical, pre-clinical and health outcomes data for identification of predictive biomarkers for patient stratification and precision medicine.

  • Experience working within cross-function teams.

  • Industry and/or translational research experience is highly preferred.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $104,000 to $166,750.
