Overview
This client is a global leader in applied proteomic and peptidomes. Work for a company revolutionizing the technologies for protein and peptide biomarker discovery and development.
This role will give you an opportunity to be involved in all client projects, as well as internal research and development efforts. Be part of a highly collaborative team of scientists and contribute to our mission of bringing high quality proteomics analyses to an ever-growing international client base. Lead the Mass Spectrometry Team.
Schedule:
M-F, standard working hours. Onsite.
Responsibilities:
Group Leader of the Mass Spectrometry Team based in San Diego.
Daily operation, quality control, and troubleshooting of mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography equipment.
Development and implementation of LC-MSmethods for both multiplexed discovery approaches (e.g., Isobaric tagging, LF, DDA, DIA, etc.) as well as targeted analyses.
Daily interaction with scientists from neighboring departments to customize the approach depending on project requirements.
Supporting the COO in the management of group resources and capacity planning to ensure a timely delivery of projects within budget.
Mass spectrometry data analysis and close collaboration with the Bioinformatics Team, suggesting and exploring novel ways of analyzing and interpreting data.
Technical consulting and contribution to client communication in the form of project proposals, data presentations, and reporting.
Project management of customer projects.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. with 5 years, MS with 10 years or BS with 15 years of relevant industry experience.
Hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of mass spectrometry and LC equipment (ideally, Orbitrap and other Thermo Fisher MS instruments).
Involvement in multiplexed discovery proteomics experiments, including the analysis of post-translational modifications.
First experience in the development of targeted SRM and PRM methods for peptide analytes. Additional experience in the analyses of metabolites and small molecules will be considered a plus.
