Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Systems Engineer (Integration and Capability Lead) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This position is located in San Diego, CA.

In this role you will be responsible for the implementation of an end-to-end capability within a Weapons System. This Capability has a high technology readiness level and is therefore centered around integration of this capability into an existing weapons system.

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Essential Functions:

  • Architecture Development (Use Cases, CONOPS, block diagrams, sequence diagrams)

  • Requirements Development, Decomposition, and Verification

  • Leading Integration of capability (including in lab, in field, and via documentation)

  • Leading Milestone Reviews for this capability

  • Coordinate capability development across IPTs

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in a STEM discipline with 14 years engineering experience; MS degree in STEM discipline with 12 years engineering experience; PhD degree in STEM discipline with 9 Years engineering experience.

  • Experience as Systems Engineering Leader or Chief Engineer.

  • Extensive troubleshooting experience on weapons systems.

  • Active or Interim DoD Secret clearance or higher.

  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

  • Experience in full lifecycle of Systems Engineering.

  • Familiarity with Global Hawk architecture and interface control documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with DOORS, Confluence, and JIRA.

  • Experience in ICD development and integration.

  • Experience with Systems Engineering V-Model of development.

  • Experience with Agile Design Methodology.

  • Experience supporting field operations including maintenance and mission support.

  • Experience testing space/US military products.

  • Familiarity working with military specifications/standards.

  • Ability to develop task specific test tools.

  • Demonstrated communication and technical writing skills.

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

Salary Range: $165,000 - $247,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
