Description
The Operational Reporting & Analytics (ORA) team is seeking an experienced and motivated Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE II) to design, develop, and innovate analytics products that support Amazon Grocery's strategic goals. This is a unique opportunity for someone inspired by Amazon's core values and is interested in working in a high-growth grocery business.
Key job responsibilities
You will partner with Software Development Engineers, Data Engineers, Business Analysts, Product Managers, and Program Managers to design, develop, automate, and innovate analytics solutions. The ideal candidate has strong business judgment, backbone, and collaborates well with product owners to answer key questions. A day in the life
Work with leadership to define and execute the analytics strategy for Amazon Grocery
Design and develop user-friendly pipelines, data models, reports, and dashboards
Partner with stakeholders to design, develop, and implement KPIs, automated solutions, and data infrastructure improvements
Liaison with stakeholders to refine requirements and achieve project objectives — requiring data gathering, problem solving, modeling, and communication of insights and recommendations
Participate in stand-ups, design BI solutions, and create documentation and artifacs
Lead and mentor more junior team members
About the team
We enable sophisticated, fact-based decision making across Amazon Grocery by delivering constantly evolving technology and analytic capabilities. This team will solve challenging and novel problems every day and have the opportunity to redefine the grocery industry while collaborating with multiple teams across Amazon Grocery brands including Whole Foods Market, Amazon Fresh, and Amazon Go. You will be able to enjoy and contribute to the unique blend of Amazon's culture. You will be based out of Austin, TX, or San Francisco, CA
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
