Sutter Health Director, Community Health in San Francisco, California

Position Overview:

Responsible for the strategic and ongoing development of the operating units capacity to provide health care programs and other services to the vulnerable populations as identified through the Community Health Needs Assessment. In alignment with system and operating unit goals, and the system External Affairs organization, responsibilities include developing community health programs/initiatives, securing funds for programs/initiatives, and coordinating and overseeing all community benefit activities for the affiliates within the operating unit. Manages the active engagement of program implementation, budget development, as well as program evaluation. Develops measures of success and tracks the impact of health programming on the community. Identifies health disparities and develops measurable standards of performance to improve health outcomes in communities served. Implements community health programs committed by affiliates to OU municipalities as part of development agreements. Represents Sutter Health at Community Benefit Partnership meetings and with local Departments of Public Health. Builds strong relationships with community, business groups and local government to secure support for system community health strategies and operating unit initiatives. Hires, orients, administers, disciplines, and arranges the schedules of staff.

Job Description :

The person selected for this role will have responsibilities in the Greater San Francisco Market with a concentration in the San Francisco. The candidate must live in the area and go on site often for meetings, etc.

EDUCATION:

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

Bachelor's: Public Policy, or related field

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

12 years recent relevant experience.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Must have significant understanding of public insurance programs and healthcare administration.

Must have significant experience in strategy development and execution.

Must have significant experience in working with executives and senior leadership teams.

Must have proven people management experience, in building, fostering, & leading dynamic teams

Must have significant experience building and maintaining internal and external relationships, and influencing key constituents and decision makers

Must have significant understanding of local, state and federal government policy issues and health care environment.

Must have excellent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Must have well-developed problem identification, analytical, problem resolution, persuasion and negotiation skills.

Must have excellent project management, organization and consulting skills.

Pay Range is $81.05 to $121.58 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
