Cisco Director, Compute Product Marketing in San Francisco, California

Cisco is looking for an experienced Director of Product Marketing to lead a team of global product marketers responsible for our multi-billion dollar Compute portfolio. This role requires a balanced blend of product positioning, team development and creative storytelling. Relevant experience in the area of IT, data center networking, compute, software and portfolio positioning will be needed to support the rapid evolution of data centers and compute that are in the midst of transformative shifts driven by applications like AI and other resource intensive workloads.

As part of Cisco’s Customer Solutions Marketing organization, this leader will be part of our Product Marketing team and collaborate with functional experts in solutions, audience, content and integrated marketing functions. Collectively, we identify market opportunities, develop marketing narratives and align to business priorities to drive demand for Cisco Networking products.

This role will drive consistency in product marketing processes and deliverables in support of run-of-business as well as product launches and events. In addition, this leader will qualitatively assess and shape the output of a team in a dynamic, consistently evolving organization. Perhaps most importantly, being an agent of and leading through change should feel comfortable.

You will report to the senior product marketing leader who supports the entire Cisco Networking portfolio. You will also have an active role in all facets of product positioning ensuring our value and differentiation lands in all relevant marketing activities. Key stakeholders include product management leaders, business unit executives and other cross-functional leaders.

This role can be remote or based in Silicon Valley and will have global responsibility. Up to 25% travel is envisioned if remote.

What you'll do

  • Become a specialist in all things related to the Compute portfolio and how these products thread through the entire marketing process

  • Develop thorough, product level expertise for the portfolio being able to articulate how to position to global audiences and to a variety of BDM / TDM personas within the data center / compute buying groups

  • Put customers first in all that you do

  • Distill and communicate complex information for sales, marketing, partners, analysts and customers

  • Work with product management, communications and Market Strategy leaders to craft messaging

  • Deliver business, technical and operational feedback to stakeholders

  • Be a trusted product positioning advisor to the wider marketing team to conceptualize and collaborate on marketing campaigns

  • Drive the development of and/or author thoughtful, customer / market oriented content for campaigns in collaboration with Content Marketing and other marketing experts

  • Evangelize the Cisco Networking and portfolio vision at industry events

  • Drive and build in-depth product collateral and tools for some of the largest enterprise customer organizations in the world

  • Transform, develop and mentor a product marketing team ensuring a continuous evolution of skills, professional growth and expanded responsibilities

Who you are:

  • 10+ years of proven experience in the networking space gained through product marketing, solution marketing or technical marketing

  • Experience in compute or data center preferred

  • Proven leader with a track record for team transformation and development of talent

  • Customer-first oriented approach to continuous improvement of product messaging and marketing tactics

  • Understand the in-depth business, technical and operational practices of global IT, Public Sector, Commercial and/or Small, Mid-Size and global Enterprise Businesses

  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical features into differentiated value and business benefits to all types of audiences

  • Demonstrated ability to identify talent gaps, develop team and individual strengths

  • Lead both individual contributors and first-level team managers and continuously grow in skill and responsibility

  • Excellent communicator, creative problem solver, risk-taker, innovative thinker, consensus builder (as needed), motivator, assertive leader

  • Comfortable leading and collaborating in an Agile Marketing environment

  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • Experience working in the IT or networking industry in a requirement

  • Up to 25% travel required
