ABOUT WATER SUPPLY AND TREATMENT DIVISION
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission's Water Supply and Treatment Division (WSTD) is part of the SFPUC Water Enterprise and is responsible for operating and maintaining water treatment plants, reservoirs, pipelines and pump stations in San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda, and San Joaquin Counties. To support this work, the Division is headquartered in Millbrae, has a maintenance yard in Sunol, and has various facilities throughout the Bay Area. The Division has a staff of 240 employees, an annual operating budget of $70 million, and is managed by a team stationed in Millbrae consisting of a Division Manager and 5 managers overseeing its Business Services, Distribution, Engineering, Maintenance, and System Operations sections.
Project name: Electronic Maintenance Technician for multiple projects

Hours of Operation: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Position Description:
Under general supervision, the Electronic Maintenance Technician at SF Water Supply and Treatment Division performs either independently or with others highly skilled journey-level technical work in the maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and repair of a wide variety of electronic and electromechanical equipment.
Essential Functions:
• Performs corrective and preventive maintenance, non-routine repair, modification, troubleshooting, calibration, removal and installation of complex electronic systems and equipment.
• Tests and calibrates electronic equipment such as, Flow Meters, Level Transmitters and Pressure Transmitters using established test procedures.
• Uses electronic test equipment, oscilloscopes, pressure calibrating devices, process meters and other devices required to maintain instrumentation and control systems. Modification of electronic systems and equipment.
• Utilizes various schematics, blueprints, wire lists, equipment manuals, and other resources.
• Maintains records of work performed; developing documentation for the installation, maintenance and calibration.
• Instructs other personnel in system maintenance procedures and operations.
• Advises and assists staff, management and others on operating problems involving instrumentation and control systems.
• Inspects, maintains and repairs supervisory control and remote-control equipment, instrumentation and control equipment, radio and network communication systems, fire alarm, access control and security systems, closed circuit television, protective relays, meters, backup power systems, and automatic gate controllers, equipment that controls the movement, chemical treatment and analysis of drinking water.
• Operates a motor vehicle to respond to service requests at various locations and uses special hand and power tools and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of a two (2) year or equivalent program in electronics from a recognized academic, trade or technical institution; or completion of a military training program in electronics, AND
Three (3) years of verifiable journey-level industrial or institutional electronic experience performing installation, instrumentation calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and modification of electronic systems and related electrical components and electronic sub-systems to the electronic component level, AND
Possession of a valid California driver’s license

Desirable Qualifications: The stated desirable qualifications may be considered at the end of the selection process when candidates are referred for hiring.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting of Flow meters, Pressure devices, Automation - controls, PLC, PIO, Data Communications, Water Treatment devices.
• Knowledge of the following Control Systems: Flow controls, pump controls, Variable speed drives, Protective Relays
• Possession of the following license, certifications: ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST}, ISA Certified Automation Professional (CAP).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
• Experience in Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) or similar software/program.
• Experience working in elevated positions, outdoor, underground and confined spaces.
