The Commerce, Growth & Identity (CGI) team is dedicated to three business-critical areas at Disney that will help transform its media business. They create seamless user experiences for consumers who can choose from a wide range of subscription plans, enabling more choice and flexibility. The CGI team is also focused on building innovative and pioneering capabilities that will drive subscriptions, engagement, and monetization across Disney’s streaming and digital products.

At Disney Entertainment, we are experiencing dramatic growth, reaching 225M total subscriptions globally across our streaming product portfolio. As we continue growing across all our streaming services (Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and Star+) we are looking for a product management leader that thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and can meet opportunities and challenges head-on.

We’re seeking a Sr. Product Manager I– Commerce Optimization to create strategies and solutions for improving the performance of our commerce systems. These large scale, distributed systems include a payments system that processes billions of dollars of transactions annually, a fraud system that can provide threat assessment under 20 ms, a Pay-Per-View system that enables purchasing of hundreds of Live products per second and so many more. Also, you will track commerce critical metrics, and provide insights into the commerce performance and measures to the executive leadership. Additionally, in this highly visible role, you’ll work cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, data scientists, etc.

The commerce system at Disney Entertainment has experienced tremendous growth - supporting over 80 countries and 20+ currencies. Responsibilities:

  • Design and build capabilities/tools for real-time and offline monitoring of commerce systems

  • Build, implement and optimize rules and other levers to enhance the performance of commerce systems

  • Track industry standards in the commerce area, and implement the same internally to improve commerce systems

  • Identify new use cases for optimization across commerce systems, and create solutions for these new use cases either using existing capabilities/tools or building new ones

  • Establish important metrics for the performance of commerce systems, and develop a regular cadence to review them with senior leadership

  • Maintain relationships with 3rd party entities and vendors especially around regulation and compliance

  • Partner with engineering teams to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve incidents, and restore commerce system health

  • Collaborate with product managers and data scientists to provide insights and recommendations to improve the performance of commerce systems, and enhance customer experience and business value

  • Make decisions both independently and in concert with other teams while balancing collaboration and push-back as needed

  • Be a trusted authority in the domain, and be sought after as an expert and influencer in the domain

  • Finally, fill in gaps across roles and functions as needed, performing as an adaptive problem solver, a creative builder and a morale-boosting leader

Basic Qualifications

  • You have 5+ years of relevant work experience. Experience with direct-to-consumer, ecommerce, FinTech and/or subscription services in domestic and/or international markets is preferred

  • You have a proven track record of successfully working with commerce systems

  • You have experience with commerce capabilities/tools to optimize and improve commerce performance and critical metrics

  • Experience with analytical tools such as Looker and Tableau, and can infer insights into data trends and patterns

  • You have hands-on experience building and scaling commerce system and processes that encompass multiple use cases

  • Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities is a plus

  • You encourage, empower, and lead cross-functional partners working alongside you

  • You communicate exceptionally well - from small group discussions to large group presentations, and through strong product memos that help drive alignment across multiple teams

Required Education

Education in technology or business domains. An undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering, finance, economics or related disciplines is a plus, MBA preferred

The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica, CA and Bristol, CT is $136,100 - $182,400 per year, in San Francisco is $149,000 - $199,800 and in NYC and Seattle is $142,600 - $191,100 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
