Robert Half International Trusts & Estates Legal Secretary in San Francisco, California

Robert Half Legal is recruiting a Trusts & Estates Legal Secretary for a well-established boutique estate planning and probate law firm in downtown San Francisco. This position supports the managing partner whose current, very long-time legal secretary is relocating to the Central Valley. The principal responsibility is assisting with the drafting of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance healthcare directives, and estate plans from dictation. Other responsibilities include probate court filings, trust administration, some landlord-tenant work, recording of deeds, commercial lease preparation, organizing client files, correspondence, and legal documentation, and other administrative and some paralegal-like tasks. The work schedule (can be flexible) is 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The firm wants to hire a legal secretary who is very experienced in the wills & trusts practice and is comfortable and proficient with transcription from dictation. The compensation package includes a target base salary of $80,000 – 90,000+/yr (DOE, for a 35-hour work week), generous annual bonuses (circa 1-2 paychecks), medical/dental/vision insurance benefits (firm pays 100% of employee’s premium), monthly commuter stipend, and paid vacation and sick leave. The firm has a big office space and requires health and safety measures are in place (including social distancing and masks worn in the common areas). Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with legal correspondence and court filing procedures is a plus

  • Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing

  • 3+ year Legal Secretary

  • Law firm setting experience

  • Revocable Trusts experience highly desired

  • Prior experience with Probate & Estate Administration

  • Foundational knowledge in recordation

  • General familiarity with drafting correspondence and legal documents

  • E-file experience highly preferred

  • Adeptness in scheduling appointments and managing attorney calendar

  • Earlier work involving landlord-tenant law

  • Adeptness in court filing

  • Real estate law experience is a plus

  • Probate law experience preferred

  • Good client relations skills

  • Experience with basic office functions

  • Legal files experience highly valued

  • Previous experience working with leases

  • Background working with estate planning

  • Proficiency in real estate transfers

  • Client intake experience highly desired

  • Real estate leasing experience desired

  • Basic familiarity with civil litigation experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of transactional matters

  • Hands-on experience with power of attorney forms

  • Advance Directives experience desired

  • Expertise in assisting attorneys

  • General familiarity with transcription

  • Basic knowledge of deeds

  • Strong understanding of word processing and spreadsheets is preferred
